Some time ago I brought home 58 Zenith tv in beautiful shape. Now I need to locate a picture tube (of course) number 21CXP4. Any suggestions on where to search or if something could be substituted would be greatly appreciated. I am green as grass with this one so any help from you tv pro's would be just swell!

Are you sure you need a new picture tube Don? Why are the symptoms? You can always have it rebuilt at Hawkeye Picture Tubes in Des Moines.

CRT Rebuilds are pretty pricey...in this case a replacement would probably be better if needed. Are you sure you have good high voltage, video, brightness control circuit, all capacitors replaced etc....low HV can simulate a bad CRT.

Also if everything checks out OK you can sometimes rejuvinate a CRT by running it at 8 volt fil voltage for a while, then going back to 6.3.

Wow Chad

Nice web site! I am just begining to scratch the surface as to electronics. I have just repaired (3 times) my mid 80's Induction Cooktop, replaced some bad voltage regulators and transistors, also my Noreleco razor and now I am going into my 30 year old Marantz 2275 to replace indicator bulbs mounted on IC boards. Baby steps but it is fun to repair your own equipment.

Hey if I get stuck can I email you??
Cheers

Highway Hi-Fi

Here is a site we found about the Highway Hi-fi.

The record player is about the same size as an large CB radio or 8-track. The records are 7".

Somehow the vertical motion of the tonearm is limited so it cannot bounce off the record.
We were able to play the Chrysler records at 16 rpm on a school record player but this is probably hard on the record as the grooves on the Chrysler records are narrower than even standard stereo records.

There were also later 45 rpm car record player units sold by Sears and other auto supply stores but these seemed to rely on
extra-heavy stylus pressure to keep the stylus on the record.

Open filiment,,,,,,,,,

I have it in shop that took a look at it. Said the picture tube has an open filiment. There is sound coming out of it, but no picture. I didn't know about the store in Iowa, I will give them a call. I sure hope I can save this!
