'60's Whirlpool tops off the weekend Scan-travaganza!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Oh, that simulated walnut is spectacularly hideous!

Hmmmm . . . Whirlpool is one of those manufacturers that wasn't owned by a car company, yet it seems for the dryer they took their cues from the Ford station wagons of the same period that had the flip down or swing out tailgate. That's a very attractive feature--unlike the walnut.

What fun Greg, wouldn't it be fun to do laundry "your way"??? Whlrlpool seemed to have a thing for two speeds, what with the dryer and the dishwashers. Would sure love to have a matched washer and dryer set of these beauty's new out of the box. Thanks for the great scans. i know this takes a lot more time to do than anyone realizes!!

Thanks for scanning these - would like to see the rest of the laundry equip. when you have a chance. Don't care much for the woodgrain fronts, but really like the Edged Sapphire color. Do you have the pages with the ranges, refrigeratior, etc.?

love em all!!!

copied em all!!!!

those dishwasher ads especially i found interesting. i assume they had a two speed motor, never seen that before. don't remember ever seeing a whirlpool dishwasher from the 60's either? guess i didn't get out much!

I like the woodgrain front too Hans. Remember it from seeing the first magazine ad with the old lady taking in laundry with that set. And Hans, I'm similar when it comes to men--I'm attracted to guy most on here wouldn't give the time of day lol.

IIRC, the two-speed dishwasher didn't have a two speed motor, the "gentle" water action was by an aeration valve. GE had two speed dishwashers for a while (also via the aeration method?), I recall neighbors had a portable GE with a "low speed" china/crystal cycle.

As discussed previously, there were Whirlpool dryers with multiple tumble speeds, but not this dryer. Gentle & Super speeds on it refer to airflow rate & heat input (5,600 watts on Super, 4,600 watts on Gentle).
