Greg, I honestly thought about permanently cement glueing our filter to the docking bay when our saber-tooth lock finally started wearing down with the resulting lint filter throw out during spin syndrome. For quite a while, it wobbled during spins and continued to wear that "tooth" down. I really did love that washer. My only beef was the cycle buttons pretty much were useful for only 3 settings without button manipulation. The whites cycle, the noncolorfast button, and delicates. W'nW/durable press button used hot water wash rather than warm, so I'd have to fill on warm and switch back to w'n'w button just before agitation started, which my mother thought was bad for the machine and watched me like a hawk NOT to do that. It would have been perfect if it had had lady kenmore button programming. The rinsing was awesome and 15 lbs. was by far the largeset capacity in 1964, everything else was 14 lbs. at best, if not 12. My choice I wanted dad to bring home was the one right below with the felixble speed and water temp combos. But, it didn't have timed dispensers, only on the dispenseomat and mom really awnted that modern touch after the 1955 GE was sent packing. And its cleaning was hell on wheels so to speak. We'd had the washer for about a year when my mom started bringing home linens of all sorts she found in my grandparent's house after my grandmother's death. And I got towash all of 'em. Talk about yellow water from all those years of sitting and turning yellow. And you're right, I miss all that clanking, banging, thunking noises make throughout the cycle. And when it would start the spin and, almost like a unimatic, start a 0 rpms, always knew when it started spinning, especially in the bathroom, cuz the lights dimmed lol. I would have also preferrred the model right below what we got for the dryer. The tol had heat & air fluff on the 4 cycle dial--timed, auto regular, auto w'n'w, and air fluff. The next model down had actual 4 temp buttons lol. I actually shrunk a couple of brand new man-made fiber shell blouses my mom bought in 1966 even with setting it on auto w'n'w. Mom was NOT pleased. But ohh, such a sexy laundry room I had with the room light turned off and the two full-panel fluorescent lights turned on both machines. I still think of it as very romantic even to this day lol.
