Hi everyone, here is an update on the Turquois '65 "tag" that I got a couple of weeks ago.
Went through everything to make sure all the hoses were in good shape and with the exception of the drain hose everything was good. (why someone would cut the drain hose off is beyond me) Haven't started cleaning them up as of yet because I wanted to make sure all the mechanicals were in working order and that there weren't any leaks. Here is a video (my first) of the maiden wash. Keep in mind that this is my first attempt at making a "movie" using the windows movie maker but it turned out o.k. I'm extremely happy that there weren't any leaks at all....kind of amazing since this machine has been sitting in a storage building for the last 8 years and being subjected to the cold and heat. The only thing that needed to be replace was the motor. When I initially started it up the motor started smoking. Thought maybe that things were just tight and it needed to be ran for a bit but that didn't turn out to be the case. Good thing I had the A206 that I haven't gotten around to working on yet so I scavenged the motor out of that one and put it on the '65. Hope you enjoy the video.....and thanks for everyone's support and well wishes....

Mark, awesome first vid for sure Mr.!!! Such a beautiful machine, and tub light to boot. I don't see how anyone can think a Maytag is BORING!!! it's soothing, calming, zen!!

Thanks guys!

Thank you all for the kind words.......it means a lot

Bob.......lol.....I don't think I have ever heard anyone describe a washer like that! I LIKE IT! lol

When I get the 'ole gal cleaned and polished up I will be posting some before and after pics...Although it isn't going to take much to get her to really shine....she is in really good shape for her age......
Thanks again guys!

Now........ THAT'S A MAYTAG!!!!!

Well....... That's ONE beautiful "Tag" you got there..... And in Turquoise no less.

Whoever say Maytags are too boring to watch???? Well..... they got that shit wrong TENFOLD.

Watching THIS video TWICE has convinced me otherwise.

To me, watching a Maytag is poetry in motion.

And from someone who has used Kenmores all of their life, and has seen a Frigidaire and a Speed Queen a time or two, let me tell you, there's nothing else like a Maytag.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!

A206 motor in the 65 Tag.

I guess that means that while I was watching this model Tag, I was listening to the sounds of my childhood washer. Thanks for posting that video.

Have a good one,
James

You're VERY lucky there are no leaks! I just picked up a matching 806 set and the washer leaked water out the tub and transmission seal on the second wash. Water in the trans = VERY bad news! Seller claimed it had only been sitting for 6 years.

I'm consistently in awe of the turnover in those older pre-06 machines. That bakelite agitator can really stir up the water currents!!

way to go mark. great job. knew you could do it. and a video to boot. yee haaa ... i think i have a motor here if you want to come on up
