Seven years ago today, I met the washer people, this, after 50 years of life without them. How less fulfilled would existence now be otherwise. To celebrate such fine company in the spirit of seasonal libation, I bring you WATER from the inlet modifications of recent experimentation.

One day, our Martin told me about the little mouse and elephant who live in the outer realms of the General Electric Black Holes. He said the the little mouse loves to have his ears stroked backward, and if you do it enough, he'll tickle the elephant to such delights, she move her truck for him.

Lifting the rim curtain on the Filter Flo GE is the elephant's cue to move her trunk, thus creating a perfect spray rinse in the mini-basket.

You can see the ribbons of water adhering to the outside of the basket before it ramps up.

The Maytag

Trying to imitate the early automatic flume effect; alas, too much pressure. Next time........

Ultimate Fill Mod in the 62 Blue Lady

Three inches of water (before agitation) instead of the usuall 10 or 11. Any amount you want; next, turn the dial to the Dead Zone for 4 minutes of agitation; and then the Infinite Soak. Favorite cycle. See the Dead Zone way to the right.

Finally, by the early 90's or earlier, Whirlpool got it

With the "Horse Shoe" Inlet. No surprise

Hope to be here when I'm 90. Happy New Year, Guys and Gals !

Hugs from Mike !

pure bliss

All seven years of having you as a friend have been fun, zany and always exciting, mt little bit of "tenderloin"!

Happy New Year Mike.........

I am glad to share ideas with you guys back and forth......it's all worth while if it enriches your appliance enjoyment all the more......may the fun never end....

hugs right back at you!

Kelly, what about that voluptuous, almost obscenely beautiful. caramelized Angel Food cake you made. Unbelievable!

Martin, I'm tellin' ya.....altering the fill flume on a GE totally changes the performance of that machine. And the drama....Good Lord!

Thanks, James ~ Just wanted to give back joy.

Mr. Mike

I always enjoy your pretty pictures! That turquoise Kenmore made my jaw drop, man!

I think it's coming up on four years for me, and I must say, ya'll are the coolest, zaniest, most empathetic group of folks I've every encountered. Love to all of you in 2013!

Oh, and by the way, water sports INDEED. Just for a moment, I thought I was in the wrong forum.

Thanks for all the splashy pics, Mikeyd! I see Whirpool didn't get things quite perfect enough for you, as I spy a KitchenAid agitator in that Whirlpool, LOL.

It's amazing how quickly the time passes at AW.  I can't even remember when I first came aboard. I do, however, remember the exhilaration at finding it. It was a dream come true to find out just how many other people enjoyed appliances--especially washers--as much as I did. It's been so much fun to be a part of this community, and to watch the site grow and change over the years.

EUGENE

Ah, nothing gets by the mega-mind of the Frigiluxter. I love it. Gene, your profile says you've been a member since March of 07, but I could have sworn you were here when I joined in 06. Memory and time are strange phenomena, indeed. Did you take a sabbatical, then return in 07.

KEITH

"Submit to the 906" was unintentional, but I had you in mind and knew full well what I was doing when writing "Water Sports," just 'cause I knew you'd get a kick out of it. Remember the soup nazi and "No soup for you ?" Let's right his wrongs with "More Turq for you." First the light, then the dark.

Visimatic Inlet

The Visimatic came with a crushed drain hook and a short thick hose, just like the Maytag's hose. I replaced the hose, but cut the hook off and saved it, just on a whim. So glad I kept it. The hook was made to fit over the nipple on the filter so you could filter the water if you wanted too. Using the pump for filtering seemed like a waste of its longevity, so I had no intention, especially when setting the dial for 30 minutes on a load with stained items.

When a permanent inlet system was the goal, I worked on the hook to open up the "crush," then attached a fill hose to it, and installed it onto the filter. I need a new washer where the hook meets the nipple. Should be easy to find.

The dark green hose is the inlet, and the black one on the floor leads up to the sink for discharge.

Enjoy the full view. The handle on the right says FILTER/DRAIN; to the left, AGITATE.
