Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

"Saturday Night Fever" with "Travolta" brought a lot of this stuff mainstream.    "Grease",  a tad too close to the 1950's for comfort, although some nice looks.   "Urban Cowboy",  remember all the western shirts, tight jeans and cowboy boots?   There were  new generation's of movie hunk's by the time "Hairspray" hit the multiplex.

Platform shoes - I did have a pair of those that I wore maybe 3 times - made me feel like I was going to fall. They weren't too extreme looking, though.

Plastic clothing - I know someone who had a major fire in their house; the bedrooms didn't burn, but they said all the synthetic clothing in one of the closets melted enough that they could stand them up against the wall.

Cadillac look

The second picture in the article, the one with the sheep. Everyone looks like the inside of a ’76 DeVille. I also remember denim suits during this time. I remember wondering why anyone thought it was OK to wear a suit made from blue jeans.

It didn't catch on

with my friends and I either. I wore shirts and ties all week. When it was time to unwind, it was jeans and a casual shirt.
Plus when I had to, the business sport coat cam off, and I helped with the labor end of things in order to show the younger crews how to finesse the stores so they looked their best. Hard work was never beneath me.
As a manager and supervisor, I never had and us and them attitude. Team effort.
