From what I've read here, the 22 series retains a lot of the Hobart design but it's 100% Whirlpool. I think the 21's were the last series to have some real Hobart left in them, and that was only in the earlier part of the run. Members more informed on this subject feel free to chime in and/or correct me.
Some members have complained about the 22's only having one final rinse. That would be my only concern about a KDS22, but on the other hand, I've been told by a member who has owned one that the KDS22 is super quiet. That's a major issue since my MBR is fairly close to the kitchen. If a KDS21 with some additional insulation will quiet down like a KDS22, that's a formula that would work for me.
I don't want the loading dilemmas associated with a single wash arm, which I believe is the case with 17 series and older, and I prefer a control panel that isn't fake woodgrain.
I'm not too picky. LOL.

That looks like a KDS 18
That (the KDS 18) has 3 level wash. In my own opinion, that is the Best kitchenAid ever made. 1/2 HP motor ,Overhead Constant Rinse, and even the longest cycle "Soak and Scrub", takes just about an hour to complete the entire cycle. I'd grab it if I was closer. You can never have enough 18s around. LOL. Eddie

Yeah, that avocado one is a good 6 hour drive from me. Pretty as it is, it's kind of hard to justify that sort of trip and associated expenses with gas food and lodging.
After communicating with a couple of dishwasher experts, I've been advised that the supposed single rinse claim is not valid. After the main wash there is a rinse, a purge to clean the filter, and then another rinse. This is the same sequence as my KDI21 had, and I had no complaints about that machine. The KDS22 is supposedly very quiet, and that's what I need, so I'll keep waiting for one to surface.

$20 Mobile Maid

I happened upon this posting while surfing the net for Mobile Maid info. I am actually picking up the mobile maid that you linked to later today (12/8). I already own a mobile maid top loader that I purchased on CL 2 years ago. It works like a charm and is used about 2 times a week.
This particular dishwasher, the current owner told me was left behind in the house they just purchased by the prior owner who was an elderly woman. She told them that she loved it and used it often. They have not used it so they are unsure if it works or not, but they did say it is in immaculate condition.
I was not actively looking for another Mobile Maid, but my friend was on CL looking for an upright freezer and I saw the heading to the ad, when I saw the pictures and the price, I decided to email her. I figure if anything, I would at least have a back-up for parts, but I have a hunch that this will work nicely.

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome! I picked up the Mobile Maid this afternoon. It is in really clean condition. I cannot wait to try it out. It has a lot of different settings on it and a really cool formica top.
It is sleeping in my car at the moment, but I am waiting for my friend to get out of work, so we can bring her in. I will post some pics once I get it in the house. I guess my other MM will end up in my spare bedroom for the time being. Never thought I'd have a DW in my guest bedroom...lol.
The people I bought it from weren't home, her sister and father came over and helped load it into the car. She was telling me that the woman who originally owned the house left behind a lot of items that are vintage. She said there is a small range down in the basement that they will likely get rid of. I mentioned this site and that there may be someone from here interested in it. She will contact me directly when they are ready to get rid of it and I will pass along the info. I thought she said it was turquiose. She did mention it was very retro. I did not get to see it as they only had access to the garage where the DW was moved to for my pick-up.
I will keep everyone posted when the time comes regarding the range. I am sure it will be for a very reasonable price as they are not looking to make a profit just some pocket change and clearing out excess items they do not need/want. They sold an entire house worth of furniture that was left behind for 50 dollars! If it turns out the range is something of interest, I will gladly pick it up and store it at my house until it can be picked up.

Oh, don't fret.....it won't stop in the guest bedroom. It'll slowly take over the entire house, garage, storage sheds......

Oh nooo, I willl do my best to resist that urge. I certainly don't want to become a candidate for A&E's Hoarders. I did some serious downsizing this past summer of bric a brac, clothing, "collectibles," and thinned out my vacuum collection substantially, and it felt great. I suspect that one of these MM's will end up in the basement (which is fine because I have a sink down there and will continue to use it). Though if I happened upon a 50's model or anything else unique at a decent price, I am sure I would grab it
Speaking of the MM, we brought her inside last night. This morning I loaded the dishes in, fired her up, and she roared away like a good Mobile Maid does, but she started peeing immediately out the bottom front. I wanted to run the full cycle but I couldn't keep up with the leaking so I shut her down at the second wash. I pulled off the front panel and sure enough it is a minor leak at the one feeder hose that screws onto (the timer mechanism?) on the front of the unit. I am fixing it now with teflon tape and a nice snug connetion.
I had the same problem with my other MM when I first got it, I suppose they loosen up after time. It was an easy fix. Will run another cycle with front panel off, and see what happens.
