Here are some pictures of my own 'rebadged' twinnie

Baycrest model HBT53 manufactured in the 1970's for the Hudson's Bay Co., Winnipeg, Man. (Canada)

(pretty much similar to Hoover T-1001 model)

This twin tub washer I am currently using for the small to mid-size laundry. When I do get heavier washday loads then I leave it to the big Maytag pictured here:

This Baycrest (Hoover) twinnie is a very basic model, simple in design. Gives excellent results, especially on getting the clothes well spun. I use the spin basket for rinsing prior to final spin. By comparison, way different in use from a 'standard' fully automatic washing machine. Using a twin tub you get the impression of really doing (participating actively to) the laundry.

Prior to repairs (ext. paint, etc.) it was in pretty good shape. I bought the unit late in the summer of 2012 for fifty bucks.

Don't know much about the Baycrest products except that it was the in-house brand of THE BAY retail stores. Years later Baycrest was replaced by the Beaumark brand.

The front badge reads 'Baycrest - Portable Washer'

Ah Baycrest! The harvest gold range and refrigerator in my parent's kitchen were Baycrests. I don't know exactly when the brand started but it was 1979 when Beaumark replaced the Baycrest name. This was at the same time the Bay took over the Simpson's department store chain.

I remember seeing these twin tubs on display at the Bay in Dorval where we always shopped!

Baycrest Fridge

Wow! That's it! Circa 1974 - thanks for posting the picture.

The Baycrest ranges, refrigerators and dishwashers of that era were all made by Westinghouse. I don't ever recall seeing a washer or dryer with the Baycrest brand, though...

... And I just realized there were also Baycrest (branded name) vacuums.

Didn't know that!

Of Baycrest I can remember though one of their sewing machines circa 1976

Nope, I too never seen washers or dryers with their badge.

Heres a rare pic of an old Baycrest canister:

The Fridge AND The Washer

One day when I was a very small child, Mom and Dad had to buy a new fridge. So we went to The Bay.
They bought a Frost-Free Baycrest fridge like the one pictured above in Avocado Green.
Just before we were getting ready to leave, over near the washers, a Demo lady was filling a Baycrest (Hoover) Twin Tub washer for an instore demonstration.
It was the same style as yours unclejohn.
Since my Parents were NOT shopping for a new washing machine, I did NOT get to stay and see it in action.

Thanks for the sweet pics-she's a beauty!!!
