Color!

It saddens me how we have de-colorized so much in our society. Who would've ever believed it back in the 60's and 70's? I just bought an NOS Proctor-Silex stem off of EBay that I really didn't need. But--it is a beautiful lime green and so evocative of the time in which it was made. It's actually rather cool, because it states there are only 5 units making up the iron, making it easy to repair.

Like anyone actually repairs these things today...

Great find! Hope you enjoy it.

My mom had a tan/taupe & white one from the early 60's she liked. It 'needed' to be replaced when we got shag wall-to-wall in the 70's. When I got pulled along vacuum shopping I wanted her to get a Regina powerhead model that was on display. For reasons that never did get explained that wasn't viable and we came home with a sunbeam like the one below that did NOT have a powerhead but WAS deemed viable. Go figure. Even at 10 years old I saw a slight logic problem there, lol.

My main memories of the Sunbeam were that the wands were way too short and that it was so top-heavy all you had to do was look at it and it tipped over.

"... died after many years of quick clean and not have to dig out the Electrolux. Wished I still had it."

Agreed. I've no rugs at the moment and I'd be much more diligent about vacuuming if I had an Electrikbroom stored at shoulder height so I could grab and use it pain free. I *LOVE* my near-silent Electrolux but hate all the stoping and bending involved in using it.

Apparently these Reginas are in demand as the 'sold' listings in fleapay run upwards of $50. Electrikbrooms as an investment tool. Who knew?!

I used to have a Regina broom vacuum that had a-owner nozzle I used to build electronic kits at that time. That little vacuum was. Great for picking up the wire clippings and strip pings. But the vacuum died after a price of wire jammed in the fan and cut the nozzle off that held the power nozzle or bare floor tool. The machine met its final fate in the dumpster.Bought a metal Royal upright to replace the Regina.
