Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That does look pretty wild but I do actually like how the display is laid out and the angle. Very easy to see and use unlike todays dishwashers. I'm not a fan of hidden controls and the flat faced controls require one to bend/get down at its level in order to read.

correction

Yes, you are correct, John. Thanks for pointing that out! I had just barely glanced at the interior. In looking more closely, it is definately a pre-Whirlpool Maytag.

Almost

One appliance store had this model in stock for years after it was manufactured. Inside it’s a Maytag jet clean but outside is all it’s own “style” I think the maytags were a lot more popular.

I have a customer in town with a black one of these

It doesn’t look quite as bad in black, but you can see why it didn’t sell. Somebody didn’t bother to do any market research on this ugly design.

Maytag had a lot of trouble with this design with the stainless steel tank. The metal was so sharp that it would cut through the wiring harness in the door hinge area, it will often short out and blow a fuse but at least it didn’t start a fire like the plastic tub models, so there was no recall on the stainless steel models.

The only real hazard was if the dishwasher was not grounded you might get electrocuted.

These were fairly good Dishwashers didn’t hold a whole lot and had washability problems in the upper rack because of no decent spray for the upper rack from below but were fairly rugged.
