Hey AW.Org gang, I was browsing on "Google" for some logos aka Hoover etc, and whilst browsing I came across this picture. Interesting don't you think?

The info about the pic says: Andrew Hazel's The Shrine of St.Bendix of Zanussi. A cathedral built from 106 washing machines and refrigerators and found objects on a mound of 300 car tyres. Illuminated at night. 6.2m high. Created in Canterbury. Now destroyed.

hehe no worries, Its a kool picture and its interesting how Andrew Hazel only used old appliances, unless this was an old picture taken a long time go? I guess your going to look for the photographic essay Ralph, would that be online?

Ah fair enough, just thought you meant you was going to do a search to see if anything came up. Anyhow its a great pic, guess thats all that matters :)

Love the title

St Bendixxi of Zanussi........I'd Worship At This Shrine

Very Interesting, Thanks Hass for finding it......Love the build, cant understand why I cant find anything in local news / searches to say it existed!! and we have members who live in Kent / Canterbury area and they wouldnt have missed it...

The very Classic & Collectable washers are all 60's / 70's, look at that Creda Simplex spin dryer on the top, that Keymatic (or is it a SELECTOMATIC) front left will have Paul searching for the spreadsheet and it looks like a sturdy Bendixxi holding the whole thing up front right as it should by the weight & build of it!!

Look at those Colston / Ariston / Indesit washer dryers middle right Ohhh Ahhh!!!

A Grey Area

<span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: small;">Its kool mike, I can't even remember what I was searching for now? </span>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">Anyhow bit curious my self though...the web site doesn't give much details, </span><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">or what there plans are if this was to go ahead? Unless it was a demo and maybe they had no funding to go ahead with the project, usually quiet common. </span><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">Its a grey area by the looks of it. Also if they did build and destroyed it, that was one hell of a silly idea. Wonder where they got all those machines from? </span></span>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">Build it first? What you guys ruin your collection of machines for a piece of art, (don't get me wrong I love art) </span><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">it is a nice concept, but imagine not being able to use your machines again

. </span><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">It is a lovely picture to look at and all those machines, no wonder your in melt down Mike.  </span></span>

Update!!

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">Afraid to say guys, its looking more like the sculpture was destroyed </span><span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;">

.  I copied this pic, which gives a little description - "A Shrine to avarice, wealth, waste & greed" </span></span>

<span style="font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: small;">Oh Andy Hazell, if only you knew! You certainly wasted a good stack of machines there! Double standards, or am I taking this too serious? </span>
