Dear Veg...Tom and I restored it tonight. It is a 1971 model 1149 that still needs some tweaking but is a beautiful machine. We hope you like the colors of Bali Green and light and medium taupe.

Here is me and Alex, an 11 year old German Shepherd, showing it off!

Just happens to be about 25-35 minutes north of North Canton.......

The 1149 is my favourte non power drive D-A-M.

Alex is almost as great a "Barkley White" as Jack!

Veg, what a nice machine, you will be very pleased. I have that exact same model (1149) and LOVE IT...cleans well and is a breeze to push even without self-propulsion.

One thing I like the best about DAMs is their strong tool airflow/suction which rivals modern clean-air uprights; once you give it a whirl on bare floors you'll think it's a canister!

OMG!

Wow, you guys are the greatest! I can't WAIT to get it--it'll match my Floor-A-Matic perfectly!

I'm so touched. Youall don't even know me and you went to all that trouble and expense. We really do have a great bunch of guys here. <SNIFF>

The only way you could top this would be to deliver it in person...;)

P.S. This is the Laura Petrie machine, no? Gotta get me some toreador pants and ballet slippers!

Veg--

Laura Petrie did have a DAM, but I believe it was an earlier model..perhaps an 1100.

And, I would have thought you already had toreador pants and ballet slippers.

Mr Veg, this is Jeff under Tom's name...

Glad you like, this one turned out pretty nice too. I still need to do a little *tweaking* of it when I get back to Chicago, and I need a big-ass box, as it will be shipped to you fully assembled.
Fred rebuilt the motor, its like brand new. Tom and I totally tore it down last night and scrubbed everything inside and out(using toothbrushes where necessary) We've brought it back to as close to "new" as we can.

Laura Petrie did have a model 1100 DAM, so did Samantha Stevens, and Major Anthony Nelson as well.
Edith Bunker had a model 1149, so you will be joining the ranks of some very prestigious DAM owners.

If you need 1149 parts........

I have at least a dozen 1149's up in the parts barn. Don't hesitate to ask if you need something. I also have alot of 1140 and u5015 DAMs for parts.

Good job in the restoration, guys. No doubt it was a fun job to do.

Joe
