Tube NOT broken
The safety glass bonded to the face of the tube has separated, not pretty, but not ruined, I don't know if anyone rebuilds these anymore, but when they are right no color set then or now can equal the beautiful soft natural color, not harsh and brassy like todays sets.

Cataracts
Is the term used when the protective cover on the front of the CRT starts to delaminate as Norgeway described. It can be fixed, but is a time consuming and possibly dangerous job. Whoever does the repair needs to have lots of experience working with CRTs.

Agreed-pix tube has a cataract problem.If you are skilled in fixing that-a nice set-if not try to get another tube.that could be VERY difficult.I lost interest in trying to deal with old TV's becuase of the difficulties in getting parts--and you have to use a convertor to make the set useful-or a DVD player or VCR that has a modulator.
