A great big "Thank You" to Don "Jetaction" Shier!

As some you may remember, awhile back I posted that I was looking for casters for my Speed Queen wringer, well Don Shier came to my rescue. He and Scott drove over to Wausau last evening for a weekend of skiing here at Granite Peak, and in the process dropped of a Speed Queen donor machine for me to scavenge parts from. It looks almost too good to take parts from, but rather restore. The donor machine has a beautiful stainless steel tub which is in perfect shape. Now what do I do? lol

Cool! Last summer we ran some wash through the old Queen. First time I had used a conventional Speed Queen.

The SS tubs are beautiful on these! Makes one wish that Maytag had done the same thing....

of all the SQ wringers I have seen in this site and on youtube, they have a slim agitator, my mothers 1964 SQ wringer had the same agitator as the SQ top loader solid tub, maybe it was a production error or someone switched them, any ideas guys?

This machine does have the slim agitator that SQ used for years. I believe this filter slips on, and rests on top of the agitator wings.

Tim....could we get a pic of the empty tub.....I'm just curious if he solid tub agitator would fit in this one, would make for some serious cleaning

Well, I did a little playing around earlier, and discovered that the wringer head from my 1950 SQ fits on the newer one perfectly, and works flawlessly too. I think I've created a FrankenQueen! Go for it Steve. I better watch what I type, or I'll be flagged by 7 cowards also.

Wow, what a nice message! Scott and I did enjoy a day of downhill skiing today and I even did some black diamond runs. The rollers I kept because Geoff had borrowed them to me as this machine didn't come with them. Geoff is coming down next weekend and can have them back. No doubt those rollers will end up in his hair for the perfect up-do! (Sorry Adelaide, couldn't resist!)I don't know what that green thing is, if it was for lint it didn't work as the lint didn't stay in it, maybe a detergent dispenser? We enjoyed coffee cake and Norelco Dial a Brew coffee and also got to meet Tim's wife.

It was nothing really, all I did was make a spice coffee cake, and made coffee in our vintage 1st generation Norelco Dial-A-Brew. I used 4 scoops of regular grind Maxwell House, and 1 scoop of Cafe' du Monde coffee & chicory blend. It was great seeing Don and Scott again, too bad they couldn't have stayed longer. They wanted to check-in at the hotel, and get a good night's sleep for a day of skiing yesterday.

What is the large grey dial on the left leg for?? they do look substantial wringers!!!

Yes, this is quite a substantial machine, and fairly heavy too. The center dial is a combination timer/motor on-off switch, and the dial on the left leg engages the agitator. SQ's are still made in Ripon, WI, which is about 109 miles SE of Wausau. They stopped making wringers in the late 80's.
