Hello everyone, looking for information on washing machines I found this great forum, and I have a doubt that I would like to help me choose which washing machine to stay at home, or both.

I have a Whirlpool 2012 Direct Drive model 7MWT99815WM0 which no longer agitated, my mother loved that washer but wanted a new one so i bought a Maytag washer and dryer set because it was with discount at the store: The Maytag washing machine is model 7MMVWC100DW0 which is Belt Drive and its pair is the dryer is 7MMEDC300DW0 which is electric.

The new washing machine does it well, but the previous one i liked more because of the simplicity of electromechanics, i checked it and changed the agitator dogs, changed the anti-shake supports of the spinner base and it was like new, the question is: which machine should i stay?, which is better and why? I have seen that no longer sell Whirlpool DD in my country or Maytag DD which I personally believe are better, but I honestly do not know.

Both looks like new and the Whirlpool still washing.

Thanks in advance for you answers. And sorry for my bad english.

Whirlpool DD sounds better

I believe Mexican Whirlpool DD are not reduced water machines, Mexican market is way more flexible and has less restrictions speaking of environmental standards. I'd stick with the DD because they are incredibly reliable and get the job done.

I've heard that Miele blocked their machines program mode for those ones destined to the US market with the purpose of avoiding potential lawsuits, I don't know if that applies for Mexico too but appliance market over here is less restrictive speaking of users putting class action lawsuits over companies.

Miele appliances are insanely expensive in Mexico, prices in the picture include a 20% off in every appliance and doesn't include pedestals, just washer and dryer. Normal price you are paying over $100,000 Mexican pesos including sales taxes.

If you were able to get the Whirlpool direct drive machine back to working I would keep that machine. Those direct drive machines are easy to work on if they ever need repairs and they are dependable machines that will last you many years.

You mentioned that the machine wasn't agitating. Were you able to fix that problem?

If you like the simple controls, use the direct drive. While the new belt drives are much gentler on clothes and use a simpler mechanical design, the electronic controls are not very flexible.

and on the new belt drive washers wash water is dumb down

and also you need to take note that on the newer belt drive washers the wash tempatures are dumb down like take for exemple you deed to do a hot wash water that enters the machine may be luck warm since the washer mix both hot and cold water and warm water wash water may be cool rather than warm things to think about so your better off fixing your direct drive washer

Well, at the end, i decided to stay with both washers, i repaired the Whirlpool washer and did general maintenance.

The Maytag, as other users say has no restrictions with water level, both have the same high levels :), my mother likes that washer and i'm not afraid of electronic controls, i'm electronic engineer and my job is about repair motherboards of laptops and controller cards appliances similar to those of washers or air conditioners etc, for the convenience of my mother i canceled the 4-wire lid swith (yellow, blue, white and red) analyzing the diagram just bridged the blue wire with the white (behind the control knob) and open the lid switch and leave connected the plates that mechanically connect the red with the white inside the switch (due to the presence of the hook that is inserted when lid is closed), in the following days i will make another modification to make hot and cold water to the maximum modifying the thermistor by a fixed resistance and possibly the upgrade to choose extra rinse as the next model 7MMVWC200DW, mine is model C100
Here some pics of Whirlpool
