It uses a Eureka Style B bag which you can still buy most anywhere. When you say the power nozzle doesn't work is there any motor noise at all from it or nothing? If the power nozzle motor is running then probably just the belt needs replacing, a 5 minute job to put on a new belt.

Old Eureka

I know relatively little of this design but... My family used to have an older, but similar, model. It had no power nozzle and no on-board attachment storage. It was avacado green and on top there was a rectangular woodgrain sticker. It had a foot-switch on the front, and the cord wrapped around the exhaust cover on the back (there was no cord winder). I have also seen one that, instead of being avacado green, was day glow orange. I remember being a toddler and sitting on the vacuum, scooting it around the basement. I would love to find one of these again. It's no Electrolux, but I have a place for it full of fond memories.

They have riding lawn mowers, with houses as big as they are getting, why not have riding vacuum cleaners?

No theres nothing coming from it at all.. the plug is hard to keep in it... Glad to know about the bags.. What about the filters?

Style S will also work- these bags preceded the style B bags. They are bigger, and you get better suction longer. Looking at the inside of the cover, I bet the bearing is fried. You can still get a replacement motor. This is a good machine, and the power head is very good. It's a good solid machine that will last years if cared for.

Hmmm

I am always amazed at how some people take care of things.

That vacuum is at least 20 years old, all metal, and to echo what Bobby said, a very good machine.
I agree style S bags are best for those machines, and they should be available from any vac shop or hardware store. Also make sure the seal on the inside front of the machine(between the canister top and bag) is good. If not, it will leak like mad!

I know you said the powernozzle didn't run, what about the suction motor? How does that sound?

I have the same one, no power nozzle, only dusting brush, crevice tool, and furniture tool on top only....still works like a dream!

The following is taken from the Pathmark (yes, store brand) bags I still have for it.....

"Pathmark Disposable Vacuum Cleaner Bags-
Designed to fit Eureka Canister Using Style "H" Bag-
For 500, 600, 700, 3200, 3300, and 3400 Series,
1240 & 1255 Power Teams."

"Style P-15/Contains 3 Bags/1 Filter"

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Style B or S bags will work for this machine. If you don't have attachments any universal friction fit tools with 1 1/4" opening will do. It never ceases to amaze me what people will use as bags instead of going to the store and buying more. When i found my Hoover 61, it had a Stater Bros. brown paper grocery bag secured with duct tape!!!!

Too bad about the PN. It is a nice one but if you have another vacuums for your rugs this little eureka would make a great second vacuum for the house. Hardwoods, window cills, the car, etc. At least try to find a dusting brush and a floor tool. Good luck!

Yeah, going out today to buy a new something to vaccume the rugs... I have a sunburst yellow kenmore canister, 2 hoovers that needs a few more odd parts, the eureka, another euerka tha has little suction (my [artners ex roomate vaccumed the dog with it often, the dog apperantly loved it), and one other vac i can't recall what it is (may be a kirby)
But yeah it works oddly enough, not had it on too long needs to be cleaned up but thanks.. All i need is a dusting brush or floor brush. Me thinks the previous owners workerd as burger flippers or fence jumpers, but thats just an OPINION

Hey Exploder!
That Eureka is a damn good machine. However, it was a poor design having the gasket on the cover which supposedly would seal against the bag flange. It never really sealed well at all! Thus, debris always by passed the bag and went directly to the motor. That is why many of these machines are found with bad bearings! for the motor filter, you can buy any air conditioning filter --the type that is used before the intake area. It is usually a tighter "weave" and very supple when new, though it will dry rot over time and powder away. Replace it before it reaches this stage as suction will draw the particles in the motor. RJ Vanik in the VCCC club uses those white cotton terry car polisher bonets to cover the motor (and with the foam and filter paper in place). Those bonets are pretty cheesy and thin but they allow enough air flow through. They make a great prefilter as a result. This machine should have the foam filter first, then the paper filter second. The yellow cage should have a nipple at the top which provides an anchor for both filters. Tuck the filters under the respective tabs. Then try the terry bonets.
Many of these machines also had paint that peeled under the hoods. I heard from someone-I can't remember who, that you may be going to Rich and Chuck's house the weekend of July 14th? Let me know if you are going as I am planning on going myself and I can bring you some parts or whatever you may need. I do vac repair from my house and I can also order you whatever you may need. The gasket can be easily replaced and it's cheap! Eureka tools are available though not the original color and design. Replacement hoses are also available. Another trick with the power nozzle is to replace the brush roll with a centek or hayden brush roll? I am not sure which one it is. Tom Gaslo told me this trick a while ago and said the original brush roll tends to be to agressive and seals the rug plate to the carpet making it hard to push. However if you keep it with the original brush roll, open the suction control all the way and you will find it will work fine on the carpet. Let me know your plans.
