A mini Wash-In to be held

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Friday evening, we spent most of our time helping Jon get the basement ready for filming. Even with taking many watch-the-washer-run breaks, many hands made short work of the tidying up. Jon has some rare and beautiful machines in his collection and we enjoyed polishing them up and getting to know some of the new arrivals.

More of Jon's amazing home and small appliance collection. We had a great dinner Friday night and with lots of laughing and of course, one of the best desserts of the week. Ken brought a wonderful cake, fruit, coconut and chocolate - what's not to love? We all had a great time talking and catching up and Ken gave a fascinating talk on the wonders of bread making. Cal and I both wished we'd been videoing that!

Filming started Monday morning and went through most of the day. For those that haven't experienced it, the process takes much longer than one would imagine. Bill Geist and his crew were very nice and seemed like they had a good time with everyone and enjoyed getting to know each person with a few questions and introductions from all of us.

We had a little more fun with the selfie-stick and failed at getting a group shot at the end of the day. Still, everyone enjoyed the time together and Eddy (toploader55 brought some of the best chowder I've had yet! Thanks again Eddy!

Filming of more machines and action shots took a bit longer Tuesday morning to wrap up and then Fred, Jon, Artemis and I headed for Cape Cod. Phil and Paul and Jeff and Cal headed to the Cape as well. Jon has a home in Chatham and we spent the rest of our week relaxing on the front porch after our busy weekend and filming day on Monday. It was so nice to get there, knowing the do-nothing vacation had officially started!

We got Chinese food for dinner and narrowly missed (or caught?) the Chatham baseball team swarming the restaurant. We always take a peek at the haul-away pile at the local appliance store and saw an early 70's Kenmore washer. Despite my pleading and efforts to convince Jon, we left the KM behind. Lol.

Phil and Paul were only able to stay overnight on the Cape and headed out the next morning for home. Wish they could have stayed longer, we all had such a great time together.

Jeff and Cal brought some of their wedding cake from the week before so we got to celebrate their marriage with them, with delicious lemon buttercream cake. They were married in Maryland on their 35th anniversary - congratulations again!!

Jon and I stumbled across a set of three Stickley chairs for his kitchen at the Cape so we spent some time cleaning and polishing them. After that, we made a trip to the Chatham Transfer Station and the "Dump Gift Shop" as Jon calls it. As tradition demands, we had a couple of evening strolls to Buffy's Ice Cream shop for some of the best ice cream and sundaes ever.

Upon arriving back in Boston this afternoon, Jon opened a package that arrived to find a very vintage Speakman shower head he found on ebay. 3 1/2 pounds of solid brass and copper! Can you imagine the pressure from that? It's going to be decadent and wonderful.

Fun!

Thanks for all of the pictures and info.

Looks like you guys had a great time.

Can't wait to see the final video!  Everything looks so awesome from the photo's!

Congratulations to Jeff and Cal on their marriage!

B

Thanks to everyone for all the photos.  Many I can identify in the photos, but not all.  Jeff and Cal, a sincere, warm, heartfelt congratulations on you wedding.  Yes, it's about time!!!!  I hope I will get to see y'all again some day.

Pete, artey gets a club hug

thank you!

And a  big Thank You to all who came and supported and helped clean with this great group effort to show off our club ! My basement was a disaster and Greg, Cal, Jeff, Fred, Phil and Paul really put out Saturday and Sunday to transform it into a show room for Bill & Amy & Henri & Andy the CBS Crew!  This was a great group effort by all!

And yes Mike, love your suggestion on Rosalie's placement but Bill & Amy were already curious about  Rosalie's and queried me on it's development within the context of the club.  So our Club Detergent has been revealed to all LOL !

The woman speaking in #8 is Amy Rosner the Producer for Bill's segments, a pleasure to work with she is easy and knows the shots she wants to get and also keeps Bill busy but never exhausted.

Bill and I got to talk about all kinds of things not washer related in between takes. He is a very interesting fellow to sit down with and just talk! Henri the Cameraman was a joy to work with, he showed Jeff & I many pieces of equipment he has mastery of. Gave us lots of tips too.  It was He who had the idea to put a GoPro Camera into my washers to get the "laundry - view". I hope those segments make it into the piece! We need to start filming our washers from the "tub out" People ! Andy the Soundman was ever present but out of the way catching every utterance from everybody.  I must say Andy & Henri both look like what I would say is a Cameraman and Soundman !!

It was fun getting to know the newbies and watching Mike & Mark transfixed doing laundry. Thank god all the  machines performed, those who host know how that can be a huge problem on Wash-In Day !! Phil you saved the 1938 Bendix from leaping across the basement single handedly!

That little 1938 Bendix was the star for me , it hadn't seen water since 1953 and just rolled right along !

Jeff thank you for restoring my 1989 Sub Zero to better than new condition again, you toiled all morning! Cal no one can Flower like you , they are beautiful !

Paul, you are the best go getter a guy ever had ! And no one can direct me better in "Clean" than the master himself Greg !!

Eddie, as always I love your cooking! I have for 35 years !!! You are a real trooper thank you!

And thank you CBS Crew Bill, Amy, Henri & Andy, for a most interesting and fun time and for taking the time to come up here and capture our Wash-In !!

It was a great time with lots of great memories !

Jon, all the praise you bestowed on everyone who participated and pitched in with their special talents, just makes me think Kelly, Terry, and Alan were their to guide everyone along in their special talents.  I have tears in my eyes just writing these words.  Whenever I am able to attend my next Wash-in, will be the first one without all 3 of them.

Great pictures and times you guys! I'm so sorry Fred and I couldn't make it out this year, we SO wanted to be there! I'm glad the filming went well and can't wait to see the show. Keep us all posted.

The Fellowship of the retaining Rings

What a wonderful weekend! Jon, you and Artemis are fabulous hosts. What a great bunch of people to hang out with.

It was all going so well until one of the Unimatic's hoses burst. John, I told you this could happen...
