A modern Frigidaire thumper

I was just thinking about the agitation of the Frigidaire washers of days gone by and wondering...why couldn't someone make one "kind of like" them now with maybe electronic relays or electromagnets or some other sort of device to achieve the up and down agitation??  I know it would not be a large market item due to water nazis but on a small scale maybe??? Thomas Ortega, you have any ideas??

I have always wondered why no one has done this. The patent has to have expired by now.

i think it would be great if someone did this. haven't they relaxed the water restrictions a bit...making it easier to get a full tub of water if you want one? i think that would be needed to make the jet action work. i have always felt the jet action motion of Frigidaire was the best and most efficient washing action in a top loader.

I'm no Frigidaire expert, but weren't they actually pretty good on water usage?  How many gallons is a large load in a 1-18?

Not really understanding top loaders that well but ......

Those Frigidaires are amazing to watch along with the Unimatic and I am assuming that solid inner tubs would use less water than the others ?
if they were available here still I would have one as the unique wash action is something to behold but would make sure I did not have a water meter

I think the 1-18 used a lot of water.

Cleaning wise IMO the original Unimatic/Multimatics Live-Water action was the best, especially after the deep tub was introduced.
IMO the Deep-Action type was inferior at cleaning really dirty clothes.
IMO the 1-18 was the best cleaning of the Rollermatics.

It would be awfully hard to reintroduce a 1-18 type top-loader, especially given the amount of Government interference in the private sector that still prevails in manufacturing them.
I would like to see a modern 1-18 with:
Self-Cleaning Lint Filter
A large version of the original Live-Water Pulsation system. A Big Three Ring Agitator!
A real Rapidry spin. (Assuming a modern locking system for liability issues).
Bleach and fabric softener dispensers that are not mounted in/on the Detergent Column. (Timed release).
