Love it, love it, love it!

I can just smell that free box of Persil as I lift the lid in the showroom, at many points during my formative years.

Do hope you will be posting some videos as I have never had the pleasure of seeing one live in action in person.

One question - what is the sweep on the agitator like? My only memory comes from my aunt's 9600 Hotpoint top loader and that seemed to do a whole 360 degrees back and forth, based on putting my finger on the top of the filter clean tray as it washed. Memory is, however, fickle and does date back to 1991-ish and the couple of action shots I've since seen suggest it's more like one quarter to one third of a revolution.

I'm rather jealous.

We had one, when I was a kid but the seals went on the wash tub and water leaked all over the place, Dad let me take it apart and play with all the parts and I made a trolley out of the base for him to use under cars, the rest went to the tip with the liberator some years later.

I had one of these a year or two ago!!! My brothers a kitchen fitter and an old lady asked him if he would dispose of her fully working hotpoint twintub and he said he knew someone who would have use for it

I sold it on as twinnies n toploaders aren't really my thing, then it cost me money as i had to pay for the seals to be replaced cuz they perished!

by the sounds of your experiences Lee and Darren, myself and Rob will have to keep an eye on them there seals.
Touch wood, the ones on this machine seem watertight, but i suppose you only know when the occasional drip turns into a river.

Supermatics are very easy machines to get on with, more practical but less quirky than a Hoovermatic, I'd say. I've had two standard supermatics over the years, both were my only machine and neither gave any problems. glad you got the deluxe, manual rinsing is a pain, especially with an interlock lid machine.

There's something very satisfying in ploughing through a big load of washing with a twinny, lovely to see those stickers too. Looks like the wood effect cabinet was finished by then...

Seals...!!!

Am surprised to here a few of you here mention seals, Its usually the water pipes from the filter-flow or spinner that are the leakers!!! Generally the hotpoints are usually best for seals n bearings etc...

Paul dont forget about the clutch on the spinner, the Hotties never reach full speed quickly , like a Hoover or Servis does...which is a great feature as it allows the pump to get rid of excess water before it finally ramps the speed up.... so avoiding sudz locks & motor burnout.

cant wait to get the new belts for it, so as to a) get to grips with learning the art of using a twin tub and b) to produce some vids to post.
