A near final Canadian filter flo

This popped up on Kijiji for $20, couldnt lose. Its a TOL Canadian filter flo from April of 1993, just before NAFTA became a thing. I wanted this machine since it was unique, being TOL, and since I was also looking for a machine with a good outer tub and transmission.

 

However, as you will see in the pictures, the transmission post is rusty and starting to flake, and the tub support is rotten. One of the tub nuts in the support is only threaded in by a minute amount of thread. Im sure if I was to reassemble it, id only be properly threaded in to two of three bolts. The transmission is also leaking oil. AND furthermore, the transmission will bind up in agitate mode if you spin the tub clockwise... Needless to say this transmission is no good. 

 

The good is just about everything else, clutch, basket, controls, top. Minimal, and I mean minimal, rust. I do need a four position water level switch though. The owner didnt have the minibasket or the filter pan. 

 

Check out the basket though, white.

I don't believe this one is set up for the Mini-basket.  No indication of that on the water level switch.

The MINI setting on the water level control knob, all the way passed the SMALL/MIN setting, is for the mini-basket. Or am I wrong here?

nicely featured.....but I have had a SpotScrubber version with 16 cycles...

will be nice once you get it up and running....

these models are from when they used one transmission for both Large and ExLarge machines.....hence the extension on the agitator...

It does have the mini basket option on the water level switch, and it also mentions it on the control panel. 

 

This machines outer tub and transmission are longer than the standard capacity machine I picked up last month, I was hoping that I could do a swap but no luck. Both transmissions are even splined differently. I wonder if thats how it was in the US? This machine I bought yesterday is a pure Camco/Canadian machine where the standard capacity machine was pure US.

Yes it was like this in the US. For years GE used two transmissions, one for standard and one for large capacity machines. Then in the early nineties until production end in 1995 they went to one transmission for both capacities, as Martin mentioned, and just used an agitator extension for the larger capacity. These transmissions also had a different spline with fewer teeth than the previous ones.
