I am considering buying a second Flair (one can never have too many, right?) The one that is up for consideration is also a Custom Imperial, but all four burners work, as well as the convenience outlet. (Who knows - maybe even the "Meat Tender" functions - or would that be too much to ask?)

The control panel configuration is different, as is the pattern on the oven door. I'm not sold on that pattern, but I'll keep an open mind.

I'm going to look at it tomorrow. Does anyone know what vintage this is?

Daan, I hate to bring this up, but since your Heat Minder stopped working when you replaced the Speed Heat switch, have you gone to the horribly laborious step of making sure that the wires to the Heat Minder were not loosened or broken? I think it a bit too much devotion that the Heat Minder would throw itself on the Speed Heat's funeral pyre. Also, you would want to check the element itself to make sure there is continuity through it and then when you have the wires off the terminals, you could check the continuity of each of the wires, detached from the switch down to the terminal that attaches to the element. As the wires get old and after years of carrying current, they get brittle and with the cooktop sliding in and out, there is double reason to suspect the wiring.

OK, it's official - we're expecting.....

A bouncing baby Flair, that is!!! It's due date is the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

This new one is in pristine condition - cleaner even than mine (he said, somewhat abashedly) and EVERYTHING on it works! Well, I don't know about the roastmaster, or whatever it's called, but everything else is fabulous.

So we'll have an "upstairs Flair" and a "downstairs Flair". Pics will be forthcoming as soon as we get out of labor ;-)

That is TOO COOL!

Next Thanksgiving, you can cook a big turkey in one and a big ham in the other, while using the others for sides. How awesome. I love those units.

Oh before I forget, were you the gent who had acquired the wall mount GE fridge? I don't know if I am getting you mixed up with someone else. If I got it right, what happened with that?

Wall Fridge

Yes, Kevin - I am the one with the wall fridge. We finally got it mounted the other day. Here's a pic.

Tom, I looked at the heat-minder, but the tech talk for that model said that testing ohms for continuty was not reliable because of wiring or something like that. I did talk to some guy who said he could fix the burner, but he never showed up for his appointment.

How about trading the oven doors with the pattern you like from your old Flair to the new arrival? Are they easy to remove?

Variety is the spice of life....

I got an up-close look at the new pattern, and it is actually pretty cool. The handles and the hands on the clock are slightly different also.

Speaking of slightly different - has anyone ever seen the owner's manual for one of these newer flairs?

X-Ray Fittings......

That was my very first piece of kitsch, that I bought with my very first paycheck from my very first job at Mutual of Omaha when I was 12 or so. All of my Dad's high hopes for teaching me "the value of a dollar" were hopelessly crushed from the get-go LOL

The fridge is indeed pink, although it's kind of hard to tell in that picture. We *really* need to paint that laundry room.

I got those washer/dryer pedestals at the Sears scratch 'n dent. They're not the right pedestals for those models, and the machines aren't secured to the pedestals, but neither has budged so far. I do need to fix that, however, as I would hate to be around them in an earthquake - let alone around that wall fridge.
