Thanks Turqoisedude
.... for the info. Sounds really interesting. I know I appreciate having other options. UPS and similar are so expensive.
So with that... I thought I'd also share a service I discovered awhile back, always meant to share the info but never got around to it.
I found a similar Uber/Lyft type service last year called Roadie
https://www.roadie.com/ . The way it works is based on regular people doing your long (or short) distance delivering for you, the idea being those people will be heading a certain direction already and can stop along the way to deliver your goods. There's very few limits to what can be hauled. I used them for a washer dryer pair.
You post a job which they call 'gigs' and it goes into their system and potential drivers will respond to your account through the sites messaging system. You have the option to pick from the interested drivers and choose the one you like best based on their rating.
I used the service to haul my awesome set of Maytags I got from Kenny. It was a 4 hour trip more or less and the cost was about $100.00
One drawback to this service is they specifically say they do not employ movers, only drivers, so anyone interested will have to get the seller to agree to lifting and loading their items on the pick-up part of the journey.
If that isn't an option you can use Roadies 'tip' system and add extra money to your 'gig' and include in your listing that it's added as an incentive for them to do the loading and lifting when they collect the item. Obviously you need to have someone on the receiving end to unload.. or add extra incentive if not, for them to do the work for you.
It worked really well for me, saved a lot of money, and I finally got my dream set of Maytags thanks to them and Kenny.
