Hey guys so I’m a little curious, how do you guys find parts for your rare obscure or unusual machines?

And how do you purchase old equipment from a laundromat?

As I’m trying to find parts for my bock SpeeDry extractor that I’m slowly restoring, I know there is a laundromat less than 15 km away from me that still has them but doesn’t use them

but they’re not wanting to remove them, thought about asking if I could purchase them for spare parts so I could attempt to refurbish them as all they do is just sit with the power switched off and laundry on top of them

Photos of extractors of the ones at the laundromat, my own personal extractor missing the coin slide and some I found off the Internet

Search commercial/industrial laundry trade surplus and stock sellers. These are places that buy used laundry equipment and may have what you want sooner or later. Then there are usual spots such as FB, CL, and other online listings.

Spares can be had apparently: https://www.costlessparts.com/bock-extractor

Regarding purchasing equipment from laundromats or laundries....

Check auction houses, eBay, FB and other online sources for persons selling equipment from closed or whatever laundry. Don't know about your neck of the woods but see such listings often for USA and areas in Europe.

A laundry still in operation may not want to go through bother (and mess) of having someone uninstall anything bolted into flooring such as Bock extractor. First and foremost they would have to repair any damage to space where thing once stood. Then it might throw off whole look of place to have that gap where nothing stands.

I'd continue reaching out to laundries in question letting them know in a gentle and respectful way you are interested and motivated. If they have no plans for using the thing and you're making a decent offer don't see why sooner or later they won't say "yes".

Wow, I think that bock extractor you showed on Facebook marketplace is the same one as what that I own and have occasionally done maintenance on, it’s the kind with the asbestos brakes
I do have some new old stock brake pads for the speeDry style, but I’ll need to do some repairs to the motor housing as the mounting points where the brake solenoid used to be have worn out as well as I’ll have to try to find a suitable rotor for it because the previous people who modified it had used a bicycle brake cable in between the lid and the lever where the solenoid used to attach to for the brakes

And now I’m thinking, what would be considered a fair and reasonable offer for at least one of the machines that I can use for Spares, personally I would want to purchase two that way I’ve got one that I can always try to have parts remade for to keep the other ones I have in working condition
