Washroom

What a great set up, but for me that Grey fronted Electricity Board Creda Electra 1100 is my ideal Washer. Will you ever get around to doing some videos of it in action.

All I can say is WOW! I've dreamt of having all front loading stacked washers and dryers aligned like this with mirror walls to be able to wash and watch numerous models with them all synchronized to reverse tumble in time with each other. Sometimes,my LGs do the opposite as one goes clockwise the other goes counterclockwise. One way, they look like the clothes are all together going toward each other. Then, they reverse and look like they're trying to get away from each other. I just love sitting and watching my washers. Because there are five of us and five dogs that stay indoors most of the time as well as a cat and two teenagers,  I wash clothes daily. I make sure we have enough detergent and hot water to do at least four loads all at once. The neighbors heard from their kids about my "wash house"and stopped over to see what the kids were talking about. When they saw my laundry room on the back patio under a big tin roof, they sat down to see it wad all real and it all is hooked up and in operation, they laughed then asked me why it was so excited,to have them and why they all are hooked up and going. I told them I don't collect cars or motor cycles because ive neither had a driver's license nor a vehicle to drive other then a moped and bicycle. I loved watching our Lady Kenmore front loading washer dryer combination and had the set vice man,Chuck, splice some wire to make the interior drum light come on as soon as you turn the timer to set the cycle with the door open or closed and turn itself off at the end of each wash dry cycle. Ours was new in 1963 and lasted with only two major service calls until 1993. Thirty years!!!!! My step mother hated it and replaced it with a cheap, small capacity Whirlpool two speed. Hated it.

My Beautiful Launderette

Too see so many excellent machines brought together in a very suitable room that has had so much time and effort put into it is truly amazing.

The hard floor finish will be good for avoiding those "killer heels" marks and plenty of room for twirling in those "A" line skirts.

It is just breath taking to see so many beautiful machines together, maybe a few sunshine yellow gingham curtains will contrast with the blue

It is lovely just lovely that after these years this has come about aswell as Paul and Robs collection and showing room.

Ripley is now the retro washer capitol of England, bugger the design museum on the south bank in London

Congratulations to Al for providing the building and to Mike for chipping a few nails fitting it out.

Floor treatment

Damn fine lay out you have there. What is the name and manufacturer of the Floor material you used. I wonder if I can find something like that in South Louisiana. Is it tough or does it scratch easily?

Wonderful

laundry space, wonderful appliances and above all wonderful friends. What future events will happen here? New friendships I'm sure and of course after the wall of keymatics, many more restorations and collection firsts to come.

A big well done to Al and Mike, great to visit and to be part of the first wash in weekend. Sorry to have missed Ricky by a week, but hopefully meet you another time soon.

Great Acme booklet Louis, Not seen the twin tub viewed from above before. These acme machines were certainly solid, lots of cast iron, from the which magazine data and from a service guys memory those twin tubs were twice the weight of most of other manufacturers machine, going by the spinners and dryers I can believe it.

So well done and lets raise a cap of conditioner to the future

Mathew

Oh my God!

Wow lovely set up there, you don't know what I'd do just to see them in person let alone have any of the ones in that line up!

Thanks :)

Washin and Washup

Thanks Louis for the brochure, never seen that one, we have the spinner and large and small dryers and as mathew says they weigh an absolute ton, do you know if that is a switch on the LHS of the washer lid or a lock?

Hi Robert, yes Washateria I like, am keeping an eye open for a pastel coloured proverbial Jetcone or Whirlpool...

Neil, next up for repair now is the Electra Creda 11500, got a new door boot and bearing kit, after storage the drum is completely seized!!

Hello Craig, well I really enjoyed connecting this machine up with its AEG motor and anti-clockwise spin its become one of my favourites - AND its the first machine that I made a video of, just finishing off the edit, youre gonna love it!!

Hello Chuck, nothing like a load of vintage washers all working to take you back in time, glad to hear you`re enjoying yours as much as we are here!!

Washin and Washup

Hi Michael, we used a high impact vinyl flooring which is used here under the Altro brand and is used extensively in Industrial Kitchens, Washrooms and Healthcare facilities - 2 options a grainy hard surface or a smooth option like this, this model is a smooth finish in a variety of colours and is easy wash/wipe and buff clean, its not completely scratch free but can be buffed out - Nowthen we are dealing with metal appliances with sharp edges so the chances are if a sharp metal strip meets the floor and is dragged across it chances are any flooring with scratch and indent, I use the thin sheet boards you can see in the pics when I was moving the machines to avoid scratches but we have had an incident with a delivery driver not adheering to policy and scratch ensued, moral of the story do it yourself then you only have yourself to blame!! - saying that its a great flooring and really pleased with it, we looked at the vast range of colours but kept coming back to this one, And Yes - its very blue but it works great with our range of white appliances!!

Luke, youre not that far away to come and visit on the next meetup, will let you know when!! and what might you`re favourite Brand / Model be?

Gary - Satnav Update, Bib & Tucker Required ha ha...

Morning Mathew, a big thanks to you as well for the Keymatics of the World line up and your encouragement in getting this project completed, you are right when you say "Its All About The New Friendships", who would have thought me buying a Kirby Tradition in 2001 and looking on line for spares, finding the Yahoo Classic Appliances Club as was, getting on a plane to Minneapolis a few months later, coming back and engaging us all to meet up and the rest is history...Great Friendships Indeed!!

Al, many thanks to you for the chance to make this, our new project happen, its great to see the pleasure that everyone to date is having after all the work and looking forward to many more meet up and new friendships, looks like the Bushmills is on order then, Rosalies on its way have just heard!!
