What a great place to spend a beautiful fall day! Great idea on grabbing good parts of machines you can't save. I saw that exact Kelvinator dryer last week - looked very interesting! So, what was the surprise on the 1-18?

So Let's Get to the Bottom of Things......

When we first shook the tub, it felt totally different from any other 1-18. Only the top of the tub moved and in such a way that with very little resistance, it banged into the sides of the cabinet violently. I fininshed going over the washer today and it really shows very little signs of use. I'm positive they didn't use it much because of the problem with the spin. Wanna know why and what was in the bottom?

That's Right.....

they left in the shipping block! Once I removed it and cleaned up the machine, it agitates AND spins perfectly. I have never seen a 1-18 shipping block before. So here's another shot of it removed.

kinda sad

it's kinda sad that all this "crap" is just laying around, rusting into oblivion. talk about a sore on the face of the land. i know it's awesome to have some of these old machines laying around for parts, but the really old, crappy stuff that's basically twisted metal at the bottom of the piles; is there any way this stuff can be recycled into new, useful machines somehow? what a waste of resources if you ask me, and polution to the environment.
