Yipppeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

Hiya Gary

Great find and all down the the long running advert. For years, when I have been sifing through the internet information on the keymatics, I have always stumbled across your adverts. Always nice when the patience pays off (the adverts do work James - honest they do).

Simply by being on this site and posting information, jo public have stumbled across my e-mail address (though now they seem to have been made private - grrrr! is there anyway of making them publicly viewable to Jo Public?) and we have been given machines. My posting information on this site has directly resulted in us being given the Hotpoint 1826 Liberator and Hotpoint 18371 Super Electronic.

To the Key...
The A3062 looks lovely - can I come and clean it soon? In need of therapy! lol.
December 1978 purchase date and produced two months prior to that - early Christmas present perhaps?

It does look lovely and, as Mike says, you need to do a lineup of the A3060 and D6042 - but only when you are fighting fit.

Congrats on another preserved Keymatic - just updating my records with the new arrival!

Cheers
paul

Hi Richard.

The Half Load option....

yep - the 'New Magics' ushered in this particular option button, in a lovely shade of green.

The A3062 Keymatic 1100 and A3064 Selectamatic 1100, received the button as a top of the range feature.

A3064 Selectamatic shown below - an ohhh so near and yet so far machine for one forum member, unfortunately:-(

Hiya Lee.

just gone and looked at my listings and I make it the following, as far as preserved Keymatics are concerned (might be wrong though):

3x3224
3x3226
2x3203
1x3243H
1xA3008
2xA3062
&
1xA3112

+
1xA3114 Selectamatic 1100.

We are just missing preserved examples of the 3203H, 3223H and A3050 to have at least one of every version of Keymatic in safe hands. An A3064 Selectamatic 1100 would be a nice addition too!

No, not yet, there must be room for a few more. If not get that sledge hammer out and nock a wall down and make that garage bigger.

One more thing.. :D

I am not so much in keymatics.. so Can you please upload a pic of both key cards that you put in to select a programme.. As I could understand they have 2 sides each, so if you could please send me a link, or take a pic of 2 key cards, both sides! :D

Thanks alot indeed.. really looking foward seeing them :D

cheers,
Dex

Hi Gary
Hope your better btw.

Great condition the keymatic is in. Was thinking to myself a few months back looking at chestermikes and Hoover was deffo ahead of its time with styling cos your machine wouldnt look out of place in most new kitchens (mho before is start a war lol)

Cant beleive they still had the original paperwork for the machine. Love looking through them and getting to know how to work the machine properly, not like new ones now, 2 bits of paper sayin, theres the drum, put washing in, press button ha ha
congrats again Gary :o)

Searchalator

Type in Keyplates and there are quite a lot of posts from members about these marvelous machines,,,heres a selection!!!

They where marketed as being able to quickly update your machine by buying a new keyplate....not so as all subsequent machines generally had their reader programmers updated and so the program slots where all different....even for the same programme!!!

Hard Water

Hello all

did a few jobs on the machine yesterday (suspension and door rubber)........the inside of the tub is covered in limescale, i forgot London is a hard water area, so i will try and de-scale the machine at some point.
I still need to change the pump.
I cobbled a slightly better qaulity vid yesterday of a complete wash (heavily edited down though) it is in two stages first link is here.

Uh what?

Dag, can't youz guyz over there talk English? With your "Petrol" this and your "Sod all" that, I just about can't make heads or tales of that which youz all are talkin' 'bout!

Just Kidding! Dag, it's just a jest! I'm pulling your knickers or taking your piss or whatever it is you Brits say.

Congrats on your well earned prize!

" I'm pulling your knickers or taking your p**s"

Morning Mr Cool...well dont come over here and say that otherwise you`d get yourself a "Scouse Kiss", ...Lol..it has a very diferent meaning..unless you wanna get really personal..!!!

"Pulling your Pants and Taking The P**s is the correct English Verbage!!!

Love the site, those classic items are really iconic of the times, just like those keymatics really!!![this post was last edited: 10/13/2010-04:14]

Thanks for your comments, I must seem a bit dull only collecting Hoovers but for me out of the mainstream brit manufacturers they were to me the most competant designs and they never cease to impress me (when they are working) with their build qaulity and clever design (no 11 second flash in the pan motors here :-).....)

Gary

Lol Gary not daft at all collecting only hoovers. If I had the space I would fill it with Whatever make of Hotpoint I could get my Hands on cos there me fav's but I gorra admit I do like the slant front keymatic

Well done!

The Hoover Bug Has Bitten... and before I knew it am a proud owner of a Hoover Logic "Automatic" 800 and a Hoover Deluxe Ecologic 800 the latter having green drum paddles. Please be so kind as to advise me regarding the infamous "twisted suspension". Almost every Hoover I've seen has had this problem.

How does one correct this? Can it be "tweaked"?

Parts like that are almost impossible to come by where I am.

Greatly appreciate any advice/info on this.

Louis

Suspension Kits

Hi Louis

Well done on attaining the two machines you have.

The main problem with suspension on this machines are the large rubber bushes that the tub sits on, over the years they compress and go out of shape and because of this you get whats known as "twisted drum" wherebye the tub wont sit squarely because of the rubber bushes, there are other components in the suspension that wear aswell and will affect its ability to work properly, so that is why there is a complete kit with all parts required other than some moderately thick grease.

The suspension kits are available here, and should be available in any country that sold earlier type Hoover washing machines.

I have enclosed a link to a place here that has them for sale and will ship abroad.

Fitting is not that difficult just a bit fiddly, all you need tools wise is a 1/2" or 13mm ring spanner to undo the top nut on the suspension rod, and a good pair of mole grips to grip the very bottom of the suspension rod whilst doing this.

I normally turn the machines upside down to do this job as it easier to get at the parts.

In the meantime if you can get a bright torch and the back off one of the machines you will be able to see the 1/2" nut that needs to be undone etc, this will just help you familiarise your self with the parts involved.

If you get a kit or want more help i can scan in some more information from a service book for you, there are few more things you need to know, like the suspension spring under the soap draw is shorter than the other spring, also the white plastic bush on the soap draw side has a metal retaining thingy on it whilst the other one doesnt.

correct

My English can sometimes be very amusing and sometimes just plain confusing so bear with me please.
Its good to know why they always end up like this, have always tried to see what or where the fault is and never quite understand what a twisted suspension rod looks like, lol Have a soft spot for Hoovers and would guess I've had at least 20 of them through the years, lol Am also familiar with the parts you mentioned, but do understand things much better now. Thank you Gary.

You might find this very funny, but it works!
The two small springs located on top (the small ones that hook into the drum) I salvage these springs and use them to visually correct the listing tub on any Hoover. the side (usually right hand side) that lists far back is where I hook the small spring to the suspension spring leg and pull the tub into position whilst hooking the other end of the spring through a tiny hole at bottom right hand side of body (front) then I hook the 2nd little spring to a nut on the top of the drum (right) and hook the same piece of wire that extends the little spring (usually only found on eco's) and hook that to the body next to the pressure switch! Works like magic for me,lol. can make sense of this? lol I always make a plan and venture out to the spare shop only as a last resort even though I can now easily afford buying spares I got by without that for most of my machines for many years so why start now!

Hoovers

Morning Louis, yes that Hoover bug gets to us all in the end, even diehard Servis fans!! did you have the 1100 models over there??

Thats a good tip in lieu of no parts, does it hold the drum much tighter in place then?? am just thinking does it cause more vibration through the cabinet with a heavy load??

We should have an area set up on here for repair hints n tips etc... have you had any Keymatics through your hands at all over the years??

chestermikeuk,

It's all in how you position the springs. I started off using only one spring at the bottom leg to the machine and it would get shaky at times. After a while I began using a spring at the top which by looking at the three would resemble a T. This would 'balance' it all out and restore the machine back to smooth spinning just as any other! It doesn't always work 1st time, may require fine tuning. once you get it right you will always get it right 1st time with other machines.

Correction!

Was having another look at the suspension legs and noticed the spring is not attached to any suspension leg but to the nut and bold sticking out from under the concrete slab. The spring is hooked around the nut and bolt closest to the back leg. ...dazed and confused. now thats all cleared up I shall get on with the job.
