My Frigidaire Gallery washer has the Energy Star on it, but the matching dryer doesn't have the star. Are dryers not considered to be energy efficient?

No, the portability has nothing to do with it. How old is the dishwash. It probably isn't deisgnated because it uses too much water.

According To Consumer Reports

Dryers pretty much all have the same energy efficency, thus no reason to bother rating them. Hence no "Energy Star" for dryers. This may change if Obama has his way as their are rumors he is looking into increasing EF for all applinaces.

I'm right there with you, Mike! I just hung out my 93rd load since April 4th.

I was curious as to how many loads I line-dry during the summer, so I'm keeping a running total on a sheet taped to the inside of my detergent cupboard.

I would have never guessed it was that many loads. If someone had asked me to estimate, I would have said maybe 40.

The dryer has only had to run 11 times since April 4th. Electricity is super-cheap here, (.069 per kilowatt hour), so I'm not saving much money----maybe 6-to-9 cents per load?---but think of all the wear and tear I'm saving on the dryer.
