Bewitched washer and dryer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

On the show, DY Darrin, and AM Endora were always fighting. But behind scenes, they got along great.
Agnes Moorehead (Endora) was a good friend to and of Dick York. She felt he had been hard done and didn't hold back sharing those feelings at the time. Still as you say everyone got on and stuck to job at hand.

As mentioned Ms. Moorehead shortly after Dick York/Dick Sargent swap cut back her appearances on Bewitched anyway.

From the kitchen, you could see into the laundry room on the Beverly Hillbillies, but you could never get close enough to see that brand and model they were. I still remember those perfectly folded towels on top of the washer and dryer.

It seems to me they changed brands after a few seasons. The early episodes looked like Maytag. I don't know what brand these are from the picture.
Such things as television series shows like this often had varied sponsers throughout it's run, which naturally would attribute to the fluid changes in props/scenery an furnishings.
Contracts, agreements, etc. were a complicated part of productions.

In Gilligan's Island early on, the radio they had was a Magnavox model, and later on it was a Packard bell model, which is going today at rediculous prices for that model.
Like the antique Zenith radio model seen on The Waltons, which collectors or sellers would price today at $2000 to $3000 smackers.

I find it amusing that just because a certain model of a product was featured on a tv show, it becomes a Holy Grail of sorts.
But then again, human's can be so very materialistic.

The real Appliance prize on the Beverly hillbillies were the Preway gas heated dishwashers and of course, the two Whirlpool no frost, gas refrigerator freezers, the gas cooktops were also Preway, and as you can probably guess the American gas association was one of the sponsors of the show.

She probably just waited until nobody was looking and wiggled her nose at the laundry...
In the episode with George and Martha Washington, Samantha tried to tell Martha Washington how wonderful her laundry appliances were, but Martha had slaves who took care of that. so she was not impressed. Now the wiggling of Samantha's nose would come in handy for the folding and putting away of laundry.

Electric dishwashers, like the 240 volt Lady Kenmore, could heat water to 180F without the danger of the heated exhaust at the toe plate so the Preway gas DW was the answer to a question never asked.

I made up this back story where Darrin initially does the laundry and cooking for a time while teaching Sam.

There is an ep sometime after the second Frigidaire is installed - the one with the pushbuttons - where it is powered on and leaking. In typical Hollywood fashion, there are soap suds coming out.

Ya gotta dance with who brung ya... Preway built gas appliances, so it made perfect sense to them! I can't imagine stuffing a bunch of gas controls and a burner under a dishwasher and expecting it to be safe, let alone having to work on it!

Don't forget the spark plug for the igniter. Plus you have to consider the efficiency. 100% of the heat generated by an electric immersion element went into the water versus how much of the heat of the gas burner was wasted as exhaust.

Don't recall that many Bewitched episodes with Sam (or anyone else) doing laundry. It was all producers seemed to be able to do is get the machines in shot it seems.

The same with The Beverly Hillbillies. I don't remember any interaction with the machines inside the house. Granny did all the laundry outside in the backyard in the "cement pond" with homemade soap.

the only show where there was an interaction with the washer base on my memory was i dream of jeanny
Brady Bunch as well.

Mrs. Brady's Whirlpool set saw some action.
