I have recently taken to going through a few boxes of pictures at my grandparents.
As I have mentioned in the past they were GE-Hotpoint dealers.
I have found some pictures from their store I thought you all may enjoy

Looks like the kind of place you could go in year after year and get great service from someone who'd still be there when it came time to buy again. Try that at a big box store.

I have never seen a Hotpoint television. Were they the same as GE?

Would Love To Find A NIB Vintage GE Carry Cool

Many family members had them, and it was the AC one purchased out of college for one's first apartment.

Sold it on to a friend when we moved house into Manhattan (building forbade window ACs), who IIRC subsequently gave it away after moving house.

Great photos, Sam! I'd love to pop through a time portal and pick up one of those Carry-Cool air conditioners myself. I remember that box so well - it was the first major appliance I ever purchased, at the ripe old age of 11.

Thanks for sharing these!!

There's a picture you haven't seen in many years--a large plate glass window, with no bars/screens, with TVs on display. Those windows wouldn't last one night nowadays (assuming you could find any).

John, I've never heard of a Hotpoint tv either, I'm assuming they didn't stay in the TV game very long.

Joe, I'm gonna say there aren't many small independents anymore, but I have a great small appliance store, as well as an independent furniture store.

Greg, those were great mowers, grandma had the model with the bag that was on the far left until10 years ago.

Fred, there are still stores with those plate glass windows, my aunts flower shop right down the road has the old plate glass display windows, as well as the shop next door to her. And the furniture store I deal with, Brody's in canonsburg has them as well.

Oh, I didn't notice until I blew the pic up, but there is an avocado mobile maid to the left of the stove in the window display

Great Memories

Reminds me when we used to visit "Electric Home" appliance store. They were a GE and Kitchenaid dealer. Mom bought our first dishwasher there in 1970 a GE Mobile Maid. I used to love to sniff the smell of new refrigerators.

The store was divided into two sides. Appliances and Electronics. I remember the TV side having all the console TVs lined up on one side and Stereos on the other. They also sold Hoover Vacuums.
