Hi everybody - I'm new to the world of vintage appliances (sort of) and thanks to my cousin (firedome) have just joined the crowd of enthusiasts. I may be adding a vintage Kitchen Aid portable dishwasher to start my collection - found one on Craig's list but have yet to be able to coordinate a time to see it.....

I am an artist living in upstate New York and a while back I was inspired by '50's small household appliances which I started collecting from local flea markets, Salvation Armys, etc. I was so inspired I created a series of kind of primitive monotypes of them and thought someone might be interested in seeing them.

As I get deeper into the collecting of cool vintage appliances, who knows what future inspiration will find it's way into more artwork/series?? :) So many incredible examples of post modern industrial design, it's hard to choose which ones I like best - I'll keep looking and salivating!

Hi Richard. My given name too, I go by Rick. Great place, innit?

I don't have space or money to collect or talent to restore but I have appliance memories going back ~60 years and love to see/hear about some of the machinery I grew up with. My oldest current appliances are 1982 GE microwave, 1983 Lady Kenmore 120V dryer, and 1998 Frigiwhite frontloader. Oh, and my stereo is almost entirely from 1977.

Welcome Rich, you are going to really enjoy this site.  So many wonderful people with so much to share.

Terry
