Hi everybody - I'm new to the world of vintage appliances (sort of) and thanks to my cousin (firedome) have just joined the crowd of enthusiasts. I may be adding a vintage Kitchen Aid portable dishwasher to start my collection - found one on Craig's list but have yet to be able to coordinate a time to see it.....
I am an artist living in upstate New York and a while back I was inspired by '50's small household appliances which I started collecting from local flea markets, Salvation Armys, etc. I was so inspired I created a series of kind of primitive monotypes of them and thought someone might be interested in seeing them.
As I get deeper into the collecting of cool vintage appliances, who knows what future inspiration will find it's way into more artwork/series??
So many incredible examples of post modern industrial design, it's hard to choose which ones I like best - I'll keep looking and salivating!
