Finally someone from the German forum did a video of this. This function activates on the Cotton and Perm Press cycles with a half load and options like Water Plus deselected. The washer spins and sprays repeatedly to saturate the clothes. It then drains out excess water, if needed, so that only the heater is immersed and clothes are steam heated. Clothes are sprayed during the main wash. All this is, of course, the reduce energy consumption. Rinsing takes place as normal.

"Steam heated"

I was verry curious if it is actually completly passiv steam heating. And, as I supposed, it is not.

I imagined it was a Spray-Ex kind of washing. Washer tumbles the clothes and does those spin-water-exchange moves every once in a while.
So the laundry is basicly sprayed with hot water once in a while. I guess those spin sequences occur temperature guided every 5-10°C temperature rise in the "pooled" water.
It basicly saves most of the water by probably only heating half of the water that would be usually needed for a traditional wash with free wash water in the drum.
But still, I think this is a really good and efficent way to save water and energy without compromising on time and results.

It's louder than I expected

Perhaps its the camera being so close but for the TOL, it's not whisper quiet.

However the drain pump is quieter...at long last.

For a Miele that is very noisy!!! There's a serious rattle going on during some of those spin cycles.

They have other videos too

I have a w377 and it IS quiet. It is very quiet on wash and its hard to hear water sloshing but their videos have it coming through LOUD and clear.

They have the best microphone in the world so I am now very doubtful of the noise level.

The 25% energy savings is very impressive.
This is compared to other W1 machines right?

I wonder when they will decide its time to roll the energy savings out to all of their machines. Its all achieved through programming right? There is no magic heating element or heatpump technology right?

I see some of the cycle times are up to 3 hours long.
Are the electronics are durable enough to run through 3 cycles continuously?

According to the uploader, the machine sits on another washer's power cord, which is why it makes so much noise.

No, there's no heatpump or anything; the machine just uses the lowest possible water level and repeatedly sprays the water through the clothes.

it's practically a dishwasher!
