A806 Advancement Issue

Hey,

Dave and I posted about this problem awhile ago. I bought a lovely A806 that had what was presumed to be timer motor issues. The machine would do everything if you manually advanced the control knob, but wouldn't advance on it's own. I just got a timer motor in the post, and installed it. I set the machine to the spin cycle (since it wasn't near the sink to drain) and it just spun and spun, without advancing. I looked at the wires very carefully and put the "new" one in exactly as the old one had come out. Any other suggestions for what I did wrong/what else might be the issue?

I think it's solved.

Wes just positioned the new timer motor incorrectly. We'll try tomorrow and see how it goes,

That's an understatment! Actually, I just apparently had no clue how timer motors worked. It helps if you actually install it, instead of just attaching the wires. (That's the way the original came to us so I hadn't seen it installed) I guess my first foray into washer repair was a flop. It will be nice to be able to do a load of laundry without warming up the machine first (the A206 with the grease for transmission oil)!

But since you admitted it, yes Wes, you had NO CLUE how timer motors work! You have to install them such that the offset peg actually kicks the timer's advancement lever on each revolution! I had never seen a timer motor in person until the 806 came to us with the timer motor dangling out the back, but I was able to use my oh-so-obviously more keen intellect than you have to determine that that was not how it was supposed to be.

It's now installed properly and functioning as the folks in Newton intended.

What are friends without a little (lots) sarcasm?

Injector question.

After a new lid switch, a new control panel light starter, a new timer motor, a new tub light bulb, and some MAJOR cleaning, the A806 is getting ready for a few more decades of daily driver use. We are just having a little difficulty with the water injector replacement. We can get the new injector in, but when the water first turns on, we get a few drops spraying out of the injector assembly. What do we do to fix this? We have taken it apart and put it back together again a half dozen times with no improvement. What purpose does the injector serve anyway?

Also, how do I replace the damper pads? This one is going to need it soon as one of them has slipped noticeably. I don't want to do it right now as I would like to get a second washer in good working order first.

As for the washer's mate, the DE806, there is another problem. The drum pulley is stuck on its shaft. I've tried swearing at it, hitting it, swearing at it some more, soaking it with liquid wrench, swearing at it, hitting it some more, swearing at it, soaking it with even more liquid wrench, and now I'm trying swearing at it again but am not optimistic. Is there a type of puller I can use for this? This is the one where the lint filter was never cleaned and the inside was cooked. The DE306 came apart much more easily.

Are you pulling the rubber piece (216201) up and over the plastic nozzle (213015) lip? That's the correct method.

You may need to replace the plastic injector body (213057) since it's common for the rubber piece to leave deposits on the inside of it (the body), causing a poor seal.

Not to be an ass, but I'm assuming you first loosened the square lock nut?

I replaced the rubber sleeve and the plastic insert that goes inside it. yes, I did install the plastic inner piece inside the rubber sleeve. I'll see about the injector body tomorrow when the parts store is open.

Yes, I removed the square bolt. (Been squirting liquid wrench onto the shaft down the bolt hole to no avail).

Right now I am running the A806 under close supervision because of the leaky injector, a mountain of dirty laundry, and the lights look which so pretty I can't turn away!
