I have posted my desire for a back lighted white maytag A806 or even an A700 or A702. I am not into fashion as matched sets so much, but rather the admiration of the machine itself. I have an opportunity to save a really nice A606 but am mentally frozen. No back light, No cold rinse option, No frills at all on the a606. So, what would you do? settle or wait for your dream machine?

Wait...

I personally would wait, I have found some things I have never thought possible. I have a storage locker here in town, that I am willing to let people hold things down here until they can come and get them. If we find a nice back light Maytag, I would be willing to hold it here in North Carolina until you find a way to come get it.
Just a thought,
-Tyler

The main reason I'm holding out for an 806 is the separate wash and spin speed buttons.  The 806 is the only Maytag (center dial) I'm aware of that allows for set-and-forget slow wash/fast spin, which is a combination I'd use for throw rugs.

I'd stop short of saying a 606 is a no frills model.  I'd apply that term to a one-speed standard tub Fabric-Matic.

Thank you Tyler,
I have communicated with some really nice people on this site. I've never found that in other tech/hobby sites.Everyone here seems to want to fulfill your dream. On some automotive sites, they will buy it, steal it, before you can even make an offer. I am starting to adjust to the wide array of folks on this site. Maybe I can learn more than mechanics and machines here.

A806 vs A606

I also always like the TOL machines, BUT if you have a chance to get a really good A606 I would get it as there a good chance when you find a great looking A806 it could have mechanical or rust problems and you could use the panel parts from the A806 and the mechanical parts from the A606 to easily build your dream machine.

Good advice John, Except I'm a machine nut case. This 606 is a time machine sitting unused for 30 years. If I see it in person ,I will adopt it like some kinda puppy.I have issues

A606

The A606 will rinse in cold water on any temperature setting if you use the permanent press cycle. It will also give you a fast spin on the permanent press cycle regardless of the speed selected.

Although it is not ideal, you can get a hot wash/cold rinse paired with a gentle wash/fast spin without returning to the machine.

Maybe you can deal with this until an A806 comes along. My daily drivers are a pair of 806 Maytags so I can understand why you want them.

Thanks for all the advice,I am also thinking it would be foolish NOT to buy the 606 if the seller is truthful about it's history and condition.I will email the seller right now.I appreciate Y'all---Duke
