? about newer Electrolux Fridge

My ice dispenser on the front of the door will only dispense crushed ice (even if the light for cubed ice is on). Does this mean that my ice dispenser control board needs to be replaced? Is this simple enough to do myself? #38C in the diagram.

Included is a link to the board. I found it way cheaper somewhere else but was wondering if I can do it myself or should I just live with crushed ice.

No, it means that the mechanism is jammed with ice

This happens on our side by side refrigerator and the cure is to take the entire unit that stores and crushes the ice out and using the hand sprayer on the sink, hose out the chute with hot water. There is a plastic flap that is moved by a solenoid (?) in the back of the freezer. Often this flap gets jammed with a piece of ice. Usually when this happens it is time to replace the ice anyway because it starts to taste bad. When set on "Cubes", the flap keeps the cubes away from the ice crusher. How do I know this applies to you? Our refrigerator is Frigidaire - and Electrolux is a Frigidaire in disguise.

Oh, I should say the Inside mechanism, beyond what is shown in your diagram, what is Inside the freezer.

It looks new,I would call Frigidaire/Electrolux to see if they are having problems with this part,even if you think its out of warranty,they may make good on it just to keep a customer,I'm sure you paid a lot of money for that fridge to have problems this soon.

I'm betting, if that control board is bad, that you would have to disassemble the door to get to it. Doesn't sound like much fun to me....

I will try to take the unit out, clean it, and see what happens. It worked for awhile and then it just stuck.

The unit is about 4 years old, came with the house we purchased. It's an OK fridge, just not what I would get if I had the choice (a black french door model would be what I really want).

If I have to disassemble the door, we are having crushed ice forever! I refuse to do it myself, nor pay someont to fix something that is not really that broken. I still get ice, just not the way that I want it, big deal! I can always reach inside and get it.
