Phelps in NYC
What I was referring to was the possibility of a memorial service in New York City; Perth is undoubtedly where Ledger will be laid to rest. Ledger spent a lot of time in New York, and had a lot of friends there.
A memorial in NYC is what I would bet Phelps would attempt to disrupt. There is no way he'd pass up the chance for that much media attention.

With Phelps' history of disrupting services of soldiers killed in Iraq, I can't see the cops here putting up with it.

What gets me, is that apparently a massage therapist found M. Ledger unconscious and her first telephone call was to Mary Kate Olsen to seek "advice" (according to published reports). Miss Olsen told the woman to do nothing as she was sending her private security force. Upon realising the man was or could be dead, the therapist then called 911, afterwards telephoned Miss. Olsen again, whose security force arrived a bit later.
Now, if I'm working,or even visiting your home, and I come upon you passed out on the floor, who would you rather I telephone first? Paramedics or someone who is first on your speed dial?
Am not saying if 911 had been summoned first, the man would have lived, but the way some of these people live their lives is totally beyond me. Unless Miss Olsen's security force are on duty members of the NYPD, or only several blocks away, getting anywhere in Manhattan, especially SoHo by car takes ages. Even when they did arrive, are they certified paramedics? Doctors? Nurses? What the blue blazes could they do beside summon the paramedics themselves and of course "manage" the situation and scene.
Doesn't one of the Olsen girls have her own problems with *ahem* "drugs"?

Drugs like Xanax (one of the medications perscribed to Mr. Ledger),are to be treated with respect. A very real problem is persons on multiple medications who are under stress simply forget when their last dosage of what medication was, and or feel the drugs are "not working" and take more before they should.
As the song "Mother's Little Helper" says "if you take one more of those, your'e going to over dose".

I concur; this simple explanation is probably at the bottom of the whole thing. It's an old story everyone who self-medicates knows and fears. I do not buy any of the other theories, for the simple reason that Ledger was in the middle of shooting a movie for Terry Gilliam. An actor of his dedication wouldn't have done that; whatever his personal trials, Ledger had a reputation for being easy-going and professional on-set.

Well as someone who has worked in nursing, it is not only the stressed that forget timing of their meds, but many seniors and or those on multiple meds have a hard time remembering when to take what, when they last took what, how it is supposed to be taken, or not taken with, and so much more.
Don't think the man committed suicide either. For one his cleaner was due to arrived and did so, she found him sleeping (and snoring), when she went in to change a light blub. Saw local NYC news last night, and the LE stated that while meds were found in the apartment, they were NOT scattered about, but in their bottles. So what you have is a man sleeping found nude in his bed with the covers messed about his body. Well lots of persons sleep in the all together, so that is not a big deal. Anyone who has every taken Xanax (I have before as pre-meds before two different operations), knows the right dose will clam you down, to much will totally knock you out. Indeed Xanax is routine given as pre-operative medication.
Now, sleeping medications, especially barbituates are GREATLY enhanced by Xanax. However IIRC, Mr. Ledger was taking Ambien (barbituate sleeping pills like Seconal nor Numbutal, are VERY had to get these days, and IIRC may be NLA in the United States), sleeping medications and Xanax are a dangerous combination. Again often given in combination with anti-anxiety drugs such as Xanax before major operations, but that is a dosage administered by a doctor or RN, and one is under a controlled setting. Also if one does not "wake" or goes in too deep, drugs can be given to reverse some of the effects to wake you up. Published reports state Mr. Ledger had complained about not being able to sleep recently, amoung other problems. If Xanax was taken in too strong a dose and or too close or with sleeping pills, there is a very real risk one may simply stop breathing, and or one's heart stop beating. You simply "go to sleep" and not wake up. Depressing the central neverous system either via drugs or booze is a very tricky thing, taken too low for too long and the system simply may stop, and without

Everything and everyone wonderful seems to be so short lived here on this planet.
God sends us these great gifts, but wants them back in a hurry, it seems, perhaps to remind us that heaven is full of talented angels like Heath who now have a different job.
When we get there, we get to sit next to Heath, Marilyn, JFK,JFK jr, River Pheonix or even Lennon, and party with the best of them,for all eternity.

Since we have determined that the brain (in this case) is not working at all, how do you intend to tell me that the "church" or its representatives is psychic and can read G-d's mind? Doesn't being psychic involved a highly specialized and or over-developed brain/mind?

Absolutely sickening human condition these people have... You notice the angle these evangelicables take to spread their message, not concern for Ledger's family or daughter Matilda as their "savior" would have, but they focus their energy on hatred.
The church mostly consists of the Phelps family and in-laws. "Church members" are not permitted to marry outside their membership so with any luck, they will die out within a generation or their inbred offspring will be unable to carry on this message of hate from assisted living and/or more structured settings.

If we could just free ourselves from all this nonsensical hokuspokus and begin to celebrate life for the wonderful, but rare, precious and random gift that it is, we could raise ourselves above the cesspit that we currently create for each other. Isn't it interesting that decent, caring and honest people never feel the need to justify their deeds with religion, but jerks do.

I am constantly amazed by the number of people who cannot seem to separate actors' performances from the actor. They think that because the actor plays such-and-such a part (or the same kind of part in film after film), the actor must actually be like that.
Back in the misspent days of my youth, I spent a few high-school summers as an apprentice in Atlanta's local summer-stock theatre, Theatre of the Stars. Almost the first thing you learn when you're around stars is that they're seldom very much like their images. Debbie Reynolds couldn't have cared less about clothes offstage, as beautifully dressed as she was on it. Dynamite tap-dancer (and onscreen extrovert) Ann Miller was the shyest person I ever met. And one star who shall remain nameless had a very lovable, likeable image; he was the biggest jerk I ever ran across in my theatre days. It was absolutely surreal, seeing an audience's love pour across the footlights to this guy, with everyone backstage ready to quit over his demands and arrogance.
If Heath Ledger's Brokeback appearance had anything at all to do with him personally, it might have been Ennis Del Mar's inability to be in touch with his inner turmoil, not his sexual orientation. No matter what anyone wants to speculate (and no matter what anyone's wishful thinking might be) the guy dated women, married one, fathered a daughter. They're actors, dammit- what they do in the movies is make-believe, and it seems to me that people intelligent enough to get an on-camera news job ought to be able to figure that out.
