Adapting a drain hose for a vintage Frigidaire

Hi everyone,

I would like to know that if necessary, what type of drain hose are you using on your vintage Frigidaires? I'm adapting a corrugated drain hose for my 1-18 (its drain outlet has a smaller diameter than most drain hoses; all normal hoses won't fit), and am trying a rubber dishwasher adapter glued to the connector with RTV silicone (to act as a reducer). Hopefully the silicone will hold without leaks (and not leak once connected to the machine as well), but if this doesn't work, what type of tubing and diameter gooseneck should I use to make one by hand? I need to make another drain hose to use on the WO-65-2 as well, but the connector appears to be a larger diameter than the 1-18 so my DW adapter will probably work better here.

Austin a standard hardware store/home depot drain hose should fit on that adapter on your WO-65. Just be sure to use a screw clamp and make sure its tight.

Those universal hardware washer drain hoses should work but my experience is they are thin and kink easily. Also if they are used on standard washers that originally had the 3/4 inch ID hose, being smaller in diameter the back pressure tends to push the hose out of the sink or drain stand. They should be taped or tied down to avoid flooding.

Older 3 belt Westinghouse drain hoses fit on most Frigidaire washers from the 50s.

I just flipped mine over to take a gander at this weekends project. I don't want to put her in service until I relube the motor bearings the pump bearings and check the belts.
BOY These machines are so much easier to work on than the Speed Changer units!
What an improvement in serviceability!

If my memory serves me correct, the WO-65 drain hoses were much smaller in diameter. They also had a metal gooseneck adapter that fit in the end of the hose......very much like the General Electric style that was used for many years on most models. Much nicer than the flimsy plastic ones sold today!!!!!
