ADC commercial dryers

I was told of ADC from another thread. I checked them out on line at the link below. Our problem is that our Maytag dryer takes over an hour and a half to dry king size sheets, they ball up, most of the time it takes 2 people to unknot them. I went looking for a standard size reversing dryer that would dry fast. ADC's machine has 40,000 btu, this is twice what my Maytag has so it should dry fast, right?
I ordered this last week but I don't have it yet. Has anyone bought this machine or know anything about it?

Well,

all things being equal, a doubled BTU rating should make a difference, but there's airflow volume, as well.

I wonder about the installation requirements, like possibly a 3/4" gas line, instead of a 1/2" one, and the venting.....

I have had no trouble at all with my Maytag dryer- Gas, Dependable Care, TOL, 1997, but I also don't have king size sheets.

Sounds like only half of your heating element is working or something has it stuck on the low temp setting, plus you may have venting issues like a lint clog somewhere in the line. I assume you checked it all out before spending that kind of money for a dryer?

I had the repair man check out the Maytag dryer, he said it was working fine and to put in one sheet at a time and to shake it out every 15minutes, I told my wife that and won't repeat what she told me. The big deal for me is the reversing and higher BTUs. I have a 1/2 gas line in the laundry room and a 4" exhaust right through the wall.

You also are one VERY brave man for relaying that message (notice how the repairman didn't do it himself?)*LOL*.

Cannot believe what appliance owners are supposed to put up with today and or the comments suggestions repair/customer service persons come up with. Who in their right mind wants to dry one bed sheet at a time, AND take the thing out every 15 minutes or so for fluffing, etc? With a down comforter or a bulky item, one could understand that advice, but for bed linen? There ought to be a law.

Drying times:

As a reference for comparison, I can dry a complete set of heavy flannel Cal-King sheets in about 30-->35 min in my 1963 Kenmore high-speed gas dryer. Input to this dryer is 37,000 btuh. It is not reversing, however; through trial and error, I found a way to load the sheets so they will not normally ball up.

A typical electric dryer of, say, 5300 watts is has an equivalent input of 18,073 btuh.

So long as airflow is adequate and assuming the same size load, drying time will be in inverse proportion to heat input. Higher drying temps will help with heavy items, pillows or items that do ball up. I would expect about 30 minutes or less for the ADC. (Note that this is also affected by the amount of water extracted during final spin by your washer.)

Incidently, 1/2 inch gas line is fine for 40,000 btuh so long as you're not more than about 100' from the meter.
