adding faucets.......

wanting to finally finish hooking up the Neptune stack, I needed to add part of a station, mainly the faucets.............add in a few simple pieces.....in less than 30 minutes, this machine is now washing/drying clothes....

let's start with a few simple pieces of pipe, 2 drop elbows, 2 spigots, 2 'shark bite' "T" connectors, and a few tools...and were off!

pipes running down the wall......if I have to tell you to turn the water off first, this may be more than you can handle, this is stuff you should already know.........mark your spot on each pipe as to where you will cut...about 1/2 inch will be removed....

here is the COLD side installed, and the cut section ready for the HOT side to be installed next....making sure to push the pipes into the 'shark bites' until fully seated,

now both sides are connected, water turned on and tested, no leaks!.....and both drop "L"s are secured to the wall......hook up hoses to the machine, and check for leaks.....

and you are set........

note, the drain is one machine over, so we did not have to add an extra this time...

easier than you think......and as mentioned, took less than 30 minutes....

these 'shark bites' are great....the come in a variety of configurations and sizes to fit your needs.....roughly 6.00 to 11.00 a piece.....this whole setup cost me about 40.00.....no soldering, very little gluing or assembly.....AND, they can be removed in seconds......you can even tap into your water supply and add several stations across the wall.......

I have never seen or heard of those before your class here. You call them shark bites--is that like vagina dentata?

Shark bites are the best. You can see Martin connected one side to copper and other to plastic. No muss, no fuss, no soldering with a torch.

Thanks Jerry......now......how many stations can we add to your laundry room?....we can put them in any given order....

also note, yet not pictured, but there are valves added above the vertical pipes, that allow the entire room to be shut off when not occupied!...safety first

Very nice!  I love my Neptune stack and those Shark-Bite connectors for copper pipe.  Huge amount of time and effort saved when you need a quick joint vs. soldering.

 

Have you tried the pre-soldered fittings?  Those are pretty slick as well.  A little on the spendy side for a whole house job, but also nice for small projects.
