As a slight change of pace, I want to ask you all some advice about facial skin issues I have. Luckily I've never had a bad acne problem as far as a lot of pimples at one time, when they do pop up it's usually one or two at a time. But I have a pretty oily forehead and nose which results in a unwanted high gloss shine lol. And on my forehead I get these small bumps, not black heads or even white heads. But when squeezed they to "unclog" I guess you can say, without getting all graphic and gross lol. Can anyone give me some tips on how to control the oil, shine and to be rid of the gawd awful bumps? I use Noxema to wash with and sometimes Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil-Eliminating Astringent which sometimes over dries it. I've seen people on other sites advise using stuff such as oil free moisturizers from Oil of Olay and other high end products, but I'm on a very tight budget and can't afford stuff like that. So I'm pretty much stuck with something inexpensive or even home-made remedies. I'm pretty much open to anything. Thanks to everyone who can help out!

Two Words

Tea Tree oil. Ok three, *LOL*

Look for pharma grade from Oz.

For cleansing two natural choices are Black soap (from Africa, long used to cleanse skin and deal with problems such as pimples, black-heads, ingrown hairs/razor burn, etc), and Pine Tar soap.

Despite it's scent and tingling sensation, Nozema is mainly camphor, menthol, mineral oil,and a few other things, none of which will really deal with black-heads or pimples, IMHO.

Hey thanks Laundress! Are the tree tea oil and Black soap fairly cheap? I would like to try those. And you're right about Noxema, I mean, it cleans well but doesn't seem to last and does nothing for the bumps. But I will say this, I always slap some on after I shave my face, and NEVER get any kind of razor burn or irritation.

Check Your Local Health Food Store

As well as eBay, though around here "Black Soap" can be found in some local chain drug stores.

Read up on both the Tea Tree oil and Black Soap (Google is fine), so you can know what to look for in products.

As with many other things, lots of people have jumped on the bandwagon and included TTO and BS in many different cosmetics and skin care products, or are producing items that contain so little of the active ingredient as to be worth bothering.

Forgot to answer your question.

True Black Soap and Tea Tree oil shouldn't break your bank, probably <$10 for each in small amounts. You won't need that much of the Tea Tree Oil, just follow directions either on the bottle or from health care websites on how to mix it for use in your situation.

I have a similar situation. After a couple of days using Basis soap, I get like a build up of it on my face. I use Johnson & Johnson Clean & Clear Daily Pore Cleanser. It has these little bits in it which really scrubs your face clean. To prevent the tight skin feeling after using it, rinse twice. It'll remove all the oils and clean the pores without any more ado.

I find that if I use a hair conditioner, I tend to break out in acne in points lower than the scalp. Maybe it's the brand I bought (Kirkland) but it's pretty much kept me from using it except on a very rare basis.

So... I'd try cutting out any hair conditioner and see if that helps.

Other than that, I'd recommend a neutral soap (Dove seems pretty good, also Lever 2000) and skip all the various medicated stuff. Just a suggestion. Your skin can heal itself.

Thanks again Laundress!!!!

Next payday I'm gonna venture out and find it and give it a try.

Whirlcool, I've tried the J&J Clean and Clear, and it left a oily residue on my face. It felt greasy for some reason. So I switched to the Neutrogena.

Sudsmaster, I rarely use conditioner myself, maybe once a week if that. I figured since it's falling out anyway, it doesn't need the hardcore conditioning it once used to when it was thick and full lol.
