Hi guys.
Not posted in a while.
Picked up this dryer the other day and it won't start. There's power going into the machine. I've had a multi meter to the switches and all seems to be fine but nothing. I done a quick check to see if it had a thermal fuse but can't locate it. I've repaired 100s of dryers over the years but I've never worked on one of these. Any advice would be appreciated

Totally baffled. I checked the thermal fuse on the meter and there's no break. It's fine. Anyone got any ideas on common faults on these dryers. It was suggested that the start switch might need replacing but getting one in the UK is a bit tricky.

Hi Robbie, i'm very curious about this Whirlpool Eletromecanical Duet Dryer. How this kind of dryer works on UK? I'm curious about the voltage, on US the voltage is 110v for motor and 220v for resistence, and the plug is bigger than the tradicional. UK is only 220v with a normal plug? The resistence are 5500W too?

tks

Hi
This dryer doesn't work off a normal plug. It has to be hard wired to a 30 amp connection because of the high current using 6mm cable which is probably why they are not very common here as it would need a whole new installation were as normal UK dryers work off the 13 amp plug and can pretty much be placed anywhere

Hi.
I have the common Whirlpool solid door 30A American dryer. On my machine there is a small plastic tag on the machine case that the door hits into to tell the machine that the door is shut. If this tag isn't pushed in the machine won't run.

Back a while I was pulling sheets out of the dryer, possibly a bit more forceably than necessary and unbeknown to me I broke said tag off. Took me ages to realise what I'd done. Did the same as you are know and had me baffled!

As I say, not sure if that style of machine is the same but might be similar arrangement and worth a look 😀
