I've got this nice aeg 525 dishwasher free from a pawnshop spotless condition inside, but the pumps housing is cracked and nothing but nothing keep that crack closed, I've tryed superglue, pratle clear, pratley steel, pratley putty, silicone but its only working good for a while then it leaks again!I can't seem to find ANY parts for it on the internet anymore so I think of selling it for scrap metal?when it worked it worked very very well!!!its very sad to do but I don't know what to do anymore!

What material is the cracked part? Perhaps it could be welded. I have sometimes welded plastic parts using a soldering iron.

I'm also..

Thinking of taking it to a plastic welder as a last resort maybe if the put some more plastic on it will hold it but the attempts I've made with the soldering iron wasn't succesfull

crake

Welding sounds good , I've had a lot of good luck with a product called Plumbers GOOP. It’s like silicon but twice as hard they sell it at about every hardware store I have been to .Clean the area well and sand it were the product will be applied to help it adhere. I usually apply a second coat after the first dry’s well

Hi there, also from South Africa, I had the same issue with an AEG D/W a few years ago, it was the first D/W that I bought I got it for a few rand, but it had a leak on its main pump. I tried everything but to no avail. Was the firt D/W that i knew that first wash the lower rack then upper rack. However I got a new pump from AEG but it was expensive! I think it was in the region of R1800.00 back in 2000. When the pump was all reinstalled there was little to no presure in top rack. So I used only bottom rack for a while. Did not know where the problem was.

Was a very nice machine, and I liked the way AEG operates, but unfortunately i move away and did not have space for the machine so I think it went for scrap metal.

Maybe you should check if you can get the part. I found a place in SA that stocks a wide array of parts, Lategan & Van Biljoens. http://www.appliancespares.co.za/.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

thanks miele...

I've bought a spare part from lategan and van biljons that split the water from the pump to the jets but then you have to adjust the pressure switches so it let in more water than usual.and there's also no pressure in the upper rack.very very nice machine when it worked. I'm thinking of trying a glue gun maybe?I would really like to have it fixed.
