AEG Spin Rinse

Hi all, Ive posted a vid of my AEG doing a spin rinse. This feature is similar to the old Zanussi Spin Wash that they used to do (wish they would still do it) the main reason I posted this is because the machine has done this and it was particularly unbalanced, it was lucky that I managed to film the machine on this particular occasion when the machine spinned out of balance. On this video the machine's drum hit the glass door and marked up the door some more (its done this a few times before) it only does it on heavy loads like towels, jeans etc. It seems that the suspension and balancing system cant cope but I have to say the machine is good as its 7 years old and has been reliable from day 1 without any problems.

I know someone else who has the same thing with their AEG so its seems that Electrolux machines are not so fussy when it comes to balancing but I hear that Hotpoint (Indesit) are extreamley fussy with balancing. The Samsung I used in Dubai used to be sooo fussy and take ages to spin.

Aeg balancing

My mums 5 year old AEG has scratches on the door glass, once upon a time i remember it wouldn't spin on alot of loads, mainly towels ( since somehow it rolled them up into a ball ) but now it doesn't seem to care.

Im actually surprised its still going, its done no end of loads, but it still carries on.

Your AEG must have the same electronic programming as my 2001 Zanussi IZ, as mine also does these little tumbles with the recirculation pump stopping and starting - almost as if the spin bursts are separate sub-routines, tacked on as an afterthought.

My Zanussi has never suffered from scratched glass, even though it sometimes is, but not often, quite violent in those spin bursts.

My old AEG did violently jump and scored the glass quite noticably.

I can only presume that the tilted drum in my Zanussi allows the load to balance better.

That AEG looks off its head! My Mums previous machine, a year 2000 Electrolux Premier (WM1200A) used to be nearly as violent as that AEG when it spun, although it didn't have the spin-rinse technology fitted so it was just a standard spin.

On a couple of occasions we found the Electrolux stuck out about 2ft further than it shouldve been, where it'd jumped so much, but it did have big gaps either side as it wasnt fitted in between kitchen cupboards, so that may not have helped.

The current machine, a Zanussi Essential, seems to balance alot more sucessfully prior to spinning and does quite a good little routine before a spin. It's only jumped slightly a couple of times in the two years since we bought it, so a definate improvement in this area i think.

Dunno if the latest AEG machines have also adopted this?

Zanussi FJS1225W

My Zanussi FJS1225W (circa 2000-2002) does this but only on the 50 60 and 90 degree cotton washes, on the long 2 hour cycles.

is pretty entertaining, i think they use this as a cool down or as an extra bit to aid the washing process after the vigorous wash action

Yeah the feature is good but it seems that the out of balance control is 'less sensitive' when doing the spin rinses, not that it is any better when doing the spins anyway.

When it does this the machine takes less times to do the rinses, I guess that agitation means that the machine can get on with the cycle if its done the main part in rinse to agitate the detergent out of the clothes. Ive posed a few pics before but heres a pic of the suspension leg of this particular machine. I dont think that this has an affect on the drum moving a lot.

I think the newer AEG's are like the latest Zanussi's in which they start up spinning a little slower, I might be wrong through.
