Help Support :

WOW!! Really nice find!!! Congradulations in fulfilling your finding the dream machine you have been hunting for.And it works!!!The washing action reminds me of gyratory rock polishers and cartridge case cleaner-polishers.Hope no Apexes were used for that!Like the dial on the machine-reminds me of the Norge Timeline.

What a fantastic machine. I am very happy for Robert that his patience and perseverance has paid off for him. Now, with some modifications to the washbowl, filtration and water-recirculation systems, I can easily imagine this type of agitation system being re-birthed as a new form of HE washer.

Seeing that the machine's cabinet is called into service/duty to hold water, what is the inside coated with, to this end?

Does the fiberglass tub "scrunch" (expand/contract) or is it rigid? Can I assume the ribs add to strength and durability?

Seriously- as the fiberglass tub wears-down does one get itchy fibers in their undergarments?

The fiberglass tank in the Apex washer is the same sort of fiberglass used in boat hulls-the glass mats are covered with a plastic resin-The tub in the machine looks pretty intact-I wouldn't worry about fiberglass particles in the "tighty-Whities"

That's an interesting idea... and if you could add suds saver, you might wind up with a washer that's actually more water efficient than a modern FL.

WOW!

CONGRATULATIONS ROBERT!

I was living your emotions and I even had a little soundtrack playing in my head as you told the story - amazing what we go through for our love of these old things. The pics and vids are so exciting and this truly is one of the neatest machines I've ever seen - and it looks like it does a great job too!

Have fun with it and keep the fascinating pics and vids coming!

I'm so happy for you! So - is your collection complete?

Mark and I were talking about rigging some kind of system that would return the wash water to the tub.Kind of like a FF type system. Run the return line up and use the existing fill-flume to channel the return water to the wash basket. Too Frankensteinish?

I have to say Robert, That is one AWESOME machine. Or what I call what the Calypso TRIED to be. I love that machine Robert, now that I have seen the videos.

Congrads Robert!

I knew you'd find it someday! Isn't it amazing what lurks only a few miles away? Congrads Congrads Congrads! Couldn't have happened to a more deserving individual!

Love the PDF file!

This is a very cool machine in more ways than one!
I am amazed from the readings that you posted that it is a 8 pound machine. It would seem smaller.
Can you when you find out tell us / me what actually happens in the drive that makes the wash basket wobble at the frequency that is is going at? I find this so amazing because the drive is actually so simple, subtract from the spin clutch.
I love the wash, and I don't think that another drop of water was / is needed to be added back into it the wash basket. I think that once the clothes became wet, (soaked) and the soil became loose, the "sonic pulses" that actually scrubbed the clothes against the "washboard" took over getting the soil out and over to the outer tub. The soil was to go over the top with the wash / rinse water that was splashing into the outer tub. Kind of like the "overflow rinse" that goes on in other brands. The water for the two rinses would not only get out the soap, but also the rest of the dirt through the same process. I can see it being very productive. It was very well thought out if you ask me. This is what is going on in the washers that are "HE" today that uses even less water. Everyone knows the brands so I won't name them here, and I have had great experiences with several brands.
I bet you are having a blast with your new toy. I am amazed by it.
I am also amazed from reading your Apex PDF file of how inventive this corporation was. I took into context that this was 1953 for their products. Apex was very impressive to me.
I would love to try there clothes dryers. They seemed very forward for the time.

Looking at the videos again....That I just can't stop watching.
If you notice from the spins the amount of the water that pours in while still spinning....(geyser if you ask me), not only was this a spray rinse, it was also a overflow rinse in practice. It was loosening up any dirt that was still in the clothes during the spin and preparing them for the two rinses.
It will be interesting when you have time Robert to compare the cleaning ability to your vast collection. I think it would be a neck and neck running.
I think this machine is so advance!
Very, Very energy efficient for 1953 or so.
Okay...I will stop now.
LOL!

Your dream come true!

Congratulations! An Apex at last. I remember the 'dread thread' and hoped then that you'd find your Apex some day without the drama. Well, this one wasn't easy either, but now it's home and working!

For all you've done for the washaholics out here, you deserve it, Robert. Cheers!
Kelly
