Hi Im new to this site and have just bought my first twin tub, servis supertwin 111.
Im 27 years old and since seeing my nan use one in the late eighties I have always wanted a twin tub. Can anyone help me with the year of the machine? Or how you work it out from the serial number. It all works ok ive just had to buy a new fill and empty hose as the old one was brittle.
Another quick question is did these twin tubs come with a worktop lid or was that an optional extra?. If anyone has one for the supertwin I would be interested in buying one.

Seen some great vintage machine on here by the way!!

Cheers john

Hi John!

A beautiful machine and in a very good shape!I think, this one must be from the early 80ies!
Maybe You can try on eBay for a worktop!

Gratulations for this great machine!

Greetings from Germany,

Thomas.

Welcome John

There are many folk on here from around the world who prefer to use a twin tub rather than an automatic....or who, in the very least, have prevented some from going to the tip....

...and Leon's recent acquisition here of a NIB hoovermatic may just make you wet yourself....

Supertwin

Welcome John, congratulations on finding your wanted twintub, they are great machines and should give you many years of good work - even as a daily driver, your model was first produced September 1983, making it 29yrs old, it ran for two years and was the last Servis Supertwin before production ceased, (a later 115 model was produced for Comet as an exclusive using up spare parts)

It looks like you have an early production 1983 model as the cabinet has 111 (pronounced One -Eleven) on the front decal badge, later machines didnt.

Heres a link to a thread about the production years of all the twintubs.

That brings back memories!

My first washing machine, bought secondhand in 1981 was a Servis very similar to that. The only problem I had was the hexagon hole in the plastic agitator had enlarged itself so it didn't give the full movement of the spindle. I eventually replaced the twintub with a brand new automatic, also a Servis.
