Yes, the both have the power fin features, but the undulation wave will have a slightly better rollover because it will have a stronger water current because of the tall vanes.
i am wondering b cuz of the the holes in the agitator post which is exclusive to maytag agitators, i know a while ago maytag owned amana, it looks to me like the new speed queen agitator has some maytag DNA.
We've been trying to figure out how to install a Kenmore Roto Swirl in our SQ. I love that agitator, and with a 210º stroke I bet the cleaning would be great.
dadoes, what i meant when i said about the maytag agitator having holes in the post was the 3 or 4 hole pattern NOT the F&P post with an abundance of holes.
The SQ agitator will not fit into a Maytag Helical washer. Under the SQ agitator its driven by a drive bell. The spline for the drive bell isnt the same as the drive post for the Maytag. The SQ agitator also has the flex vanes much closer to the base and the vanes are a tad smaller than the Maytag PowerFin. But the SQ agitator can roll over a very large load. The Maytag can as well if the washer isnt overloaded and the washload is only loaded to the top row of holes. The SQ ironically doesnt fill the washbasket full the water level is 3 rows down. I am going to have to adjust the water level switch to fill the washbasket to the near top row of holes. Now what I do is I wait til the washer is filled then I hit the reset and hold it til its full to where I want it to be.
The SQ agitator is a hybrid of a Maytag PowerFin and a Whirlpool Surgilator. It does a fantastic job washing and is as effective as a Maytag Powerfin and as gentle too. The curved vanes draw the load to the base with each stroke. PLus there isnt much splashing either.
The SQ agitator does an excellent job. I just miss the Roto Swirl's wringing action, which was substantially gentler on clothes than the SQ's vertical vanes -- yet it cleaned just as effectively.
Oh and the holes on the SQ FlexVane barrel is only to let the fabric softener out. Nothing more...no filter in the barrel and the water coming in a kinda a joke. It doesnt flush the barrel clean of the softener. When our Tenant uses the washer he loves Gain softener. I used to like it but the stench of it now is too much. When he is done with the washer I always have to rinse out the dispenser and the barrel. To me a loud scent is just that... LOUD! Give me Downy April Fresh or even that new Target Spring scent softener any day.
