Hello every one. i am new just joined. great sight spend hours browsing.Can any one tell me where i migtht be able to find attachments for a modle 77 without going to Ebay or as i call it rip off bay.my other question is if i repaint these vintage air ways does the value price drop? I will be having a modle 66 finished very soon but just the machine.I thought i would offer it to a collector in the club first as soon as i get my new computer and camera up . i am sure air way charler might? I have the new Frigidaer FL washer and dryer which i got for exmas last year.Just love it. had Maytag for years and Westinghouse FL L 102 and L 120m in the 70 's in the 60's mom had Whirpool in 1957 in the first house in the second house we got all Frigidare washer wcd63 dryer ddf63 dishwasher and the fomous flair doudle oven. took w/d with us to the house in the east in 64 and had it righ up to 1986 and left it in the house when my parents moved back to ca. they were still working but not in good shape mom was hard on appliances and vacuums!! Now they have all Hotpoint in the condo from the late 70's early 80's and again sold them with the house. They live in northen CA and me in southern CA. Before i for get i need Electrolux fans for a modle E with the long hubs cant find them and the vac shop hear dosen't want to be bothered too old he says buy a new one!! can't find one that i can get what i need. Very frustrating to me! as i said i will have some vintage vacs for sale very soon when i get the new system up and going i will post pics for you all to see and appreciate way more that Ebayers!!

Yes, painting an older vacuum generally will ruin the value unless you strip the original color and match it PERFECTLY with the original color and texture which is almost impossible to do.
Note I say almost impossible. Some members of the VCCC have done excellent restorations but it is a true labor of love and not easy. I would never attempt trying to paint a vintage vacuum. If you don't get it right, the machine for collectability is ruined.
As far as finding tools.........well you could look at estate sales, calls vacuum stores that have been around a while or resort to ebay. Those tools are hard to find and are usually in not the best condition. They have not been available from Air-Way for years.
If you join the VCCC you could put a note on their website and see what happens too. Hope this helps!

It is in very good shape right down to the aluminim.It has a factory shine.I acquired this from my neighbor.It was in her garage packed away in a box.She told me that it had been there for a good many years.She is 85 and dose not really rember where she got it.All I have is the machine no attachments.
I have a question about Surf detergent? Can I use it in my FL. correct me if I am wrong but wasn't it low sudsing?I have had good luck with regular Tide,Purex,Ariel,Sears but not with Arm & Hammer causes problems in the spin and that is why I am asking about Surf?
