Almost new early Coronado dryer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

From the small glimpse of the timer dial, this looks to have one of the thermostatic dryness controls like some early Blackstone and Westinghouse dryers I have seen, but I agree that it looks like the Beam dryers sold under the SQ brand as well as others like APEX. I think that one of the features touted for the dryers was "vacuum drying" in which the air pressure in the chamber was lower, because of the exhaust fan which pulled air through the dryer, which helped water to evaporate faster. It made more sense than the medical benefits of tobacco, another advertising ploy of roughly the same time.

I liked the APEX version with a window, but I thought that Beam made these closely-related machines as Greg noted.

John was using the Blackstone in the shop at the museum and I think he said that dry control was pretty reliable.
