Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I love Amana!

I'm not an expert on dates with most though. My guess is circa 1983-86 ish based on "energy saver" and that black kick plate. Handles are original but have an older circa 70s look to them, I think. I doubt it's any older than '79/'80

It seems odd that it would have chrome handles that late though.  Our '92 GE was all plastic and faux chrome strips.  I like the handles; it's a pretty cool design.

Amana catalogue I once had

was from 1983, I think. They were still using chrome...lesser models mostly. The side by sides had plenty of chrome door trim and chrome vertical trim down sides of handles for quite a long time...into the 90s.

My parents had a Kenmore that they bought in '83.  It had chrome and faux woodgrain handles.  They replaced it in '99 with a KitchenAid side-by-side.

This kitchen aid bisque seriously looks

like spoilt sweet cream milk or rancid cake icing. It's like "candy beige" if that makes sense. It's really making me nauseous looking at it. phwaaah.

Yeah...there's only a white panel...

what I want to do is to change the upper control/face panel from that naff "beige" to a black one. I'm talking about the push button panel/surround with the graphics/markings/labellings.

My KA I use is the Hobart chrome with black pushbutton control and black door/kick panels framed in chrome. Sort of want this bisque one to look the same. Those machines just look proper in tidy black tux.

Not exactly...

I bought it with bisque door and kick panel showing...and those match the control panel and logos. Reverse of door and kick is bright white. Can't change to anything else and someone removed the black panels and the chrome/stainless (if they were ever there even) Such a vomit inducing colour, that bisque. Phoenix CL is CHOCKA BLOCKA with bisque Maytag and Whirlpool fridges, microwaves and stoves. Can't give that stuff away.
