Amana Radarange stirrer question

Hi. I have an RRL-9TC Radarange microwave that has an issue with the stirrer. The stirrer doesn't move at all. It isn't being blocked by the grease shield. It appears as though the foam weatherstripping that seals the air path inside has deteriorated, causing a lack of air to rotate the stirrer. Is it safe to replace the weatherstripping with standard adhesive backed stripping from the hardware store? I can't seem to find it anywhere online.
