Amana Stove and Microwave Combo

These ranges were all the rage in the late 70s and early 80s. I think GE probably made the nicest one, though there's nothing really inherently wrong with the others. Personally I'd prefer the two regular ovens to having a microwave on top, but it's a good idea particularly if space is an issue.

Today's options include a separate microwave-convection oven over the stove with a built in range-hood. You can use it as either one!

My grandma has the TOL version of this Amana unit with the Corning cooktop and it looks as new. She picked it out when they were building their retirement place in the late 70's. She did have a burner go out once but that was taken care of in short order. The trick to keeping them looking new is using the proper smooth top cleaner occasionally. I think it's a neat idea, especially for those who prefer electric. "Hi-Tech!" : )
